Southern Law (Google).
So while in law school you took a class on federal criminal law and learned about this law and can now recite it from memory? You sure there wasn't a bit or Fox News or Drudge Report in there?

I'm no fan of Penn. He's a Grade-A POS for sure. Having said that, I don't think he deserves to be prosecuted for this. His role in this situation was a journalist, not a criminal. Reporter's protection should apply, imo. He has no obligation to identify anything unless subpoenaed.

He is a narcissist, not a reporter. Posting on TD doesnt make one a sports columnist.
Txtiger, then you would have no issue with the Mexican Govt releasing a statement thanking him for his cooperation, right?

But does writing an article in Sport Illustrated make you a sports writer? In my opinion it does, and that's essentially what Penn did. He published his article in a news publication. Him being a narcissistic piece of crap has nothing to do with him being afforded protections as a journalist.

It is painful and disappointing to see.

It is Sean Penn's lifelong ambition to be considered a Leftist political dissident. It's the "noble" mythology he has spent a lifetime maintaining about his pro-Communist father Leo who was famously blacklisted, and his life has been a similar attempt to idealize Leftist monsters and rehabilitate discredited Leftist ideas.Nothing gives a cheesy Hollywood actor more "street cred" at cocktail parties and auditions than the whole "Che" persona Penn has been cultivating since he was 16. Dude still thinks he's persecuted and it is the 1950's and he is the Proletarian Avenger.

Kate del Castillo, the Mexican actress whom Penn says helped arrange the meeting, is also being investigated,
Pics?

No I literally just googled "federal obstruction statutes" and found an 89 page pdf defining and explaining all of them. Then picked the one that could apply. The whole point of the thread was a hypothetical that was later updated when it was announced Mexico was opening an investigation. As I said: I don't know Mexican law; do they have freedom of the press? I only included the US statute as a possible parallel. I don't have nearly enough knowledge of the facts to express an opinion whether he should or shouldn't be investigated. I do find it amusing TX Tiger has drawn such a firm line in the sand 14 hours after the story broke.

So what? Isn't this the United States of America? Where people are free to think and believe what they choose?

However, it is entertaining to watch the Drama Queens get sandy VJs over this.
If only he'd dialed it back about 1,000 decibels, did nothing meaningful politically, and instead simply talked mean to establishment, he could "Make America Great Again" in the eyes of many of those same Drama Queens.

Sure. I have no problem with Sean Penn having the absolute right to idealize mass murdering Leftist monsters decade after decade. I'm just commenting that he happens to be a colossal shitbag and lifelong devoted *Fellow Traveler.
*a person who is not a member of a particular group or political party (especially the Communist Party), but who sympathizes with the group's aims and policies.

What is disconcerting is how much attention this is getting when our country has been taken over by Fascist globablists, sucking it dry at an alarming rate.
Sean Penn, and his ilk, should be the LAST thing any American should be concerned with in comparison.
Only a dumbed-down, narcissistic society would give two fricks about Sean Penn or his travels.

You are doing that whole Board Nanny thing again, where you spam the board with nonsense from every conspiratorial direction, and then sermonize like a fricking crazy-arse Aunt about what the normal people "should" be "concerned about". How about you stick to the black helicopters, and we will discuss what interests us. Like El Chapo and Sean Pen hanging out.

Using your logic, every actor who has portrayed a murderer or criminal is also a hypocrit
No. When you're anti-2nd amendment activist, it makes you a hyprocrite glorifying their use in movies.
To give you an example of someone who is not a hypocrite, look at Bryan Adams. He did not allow his song to be used in Top Gun because he said the movie glorified war and didn't want his work to contribute to that glorification.
He could have easily taken a 6 figure pay day for doing nothing, but because he's not a hyprocrite, he turned them down.
Penn is a hypocrite.
