Overpass Merchant is more like the original Zee Zees. The place was cleaner and was the go to bar for professionals in true 80’s style. As time went on, it was the place people went to after dinner at restaurants around there. Later on it became a dive, and the clientele was hit or miss, but mainly miss. The last few years it sucked IMO, and needed a change. If you liked it at the end, that really wasn’t what made Zee Zees the bar people remember. There’s plenty of shite holes go find another.

There were lines out the door there last week. This isn’t surprising.

And you'll never contribute to society in the same way that a small business does.

If you have no issues with businesses being shut down over bullshite mandates, then you are the problem.

Why in the world would you want two bars right next to each other to be the same thing?

First, the Merchant is one of the best non-fine-dining restaurants we have in BR. Their chef is incredible, they are constantly trying new things and keeping it fresh, their bar staff rocks, and their social media presence and community engagement is what other restaurants wish they could be.

I spent 1-2 days a week in ZeeZee’s when it was open (my boyfriend when drunk fancies a juke box), and I kinda doubt anyone cares that the <10 regulars there don’t dine at Merchant. Hell, some of them are better gone.

As for Ivars, it’s not my bar of choice but good for them doing what they need to do to stay alive. They’ve gained a larger following than they had before due to being the only bar open for a few months of this.

Don’t see how anyone could have a raging erection over a business being shut down, just because they don’t like the people that go there. (Also, that’s weird. What are we? 16, mad that the attractive kids are successful?)

I say this as a Duvics regular who also prefers the Duvics crowd to Ivars. I would never rally for a business being shut down.

Don’t insult my girl Anna like that. Zeezees was a great bar at the end. I have several memories..err fuzzy ideas there. The only issue I had was the horrible smell coming from the bar. I don’t think the beer drains had ever been cleaned out. That was brutal.
