This is beyond stupid.

It has been reported to the MPP that 17 motorcyclists in the area have recently been arrested for wearing bandanas, scarves, and even a bubble shield while riding because it conceals their identities in public. Local law enforcement contends that covering your face in public is a violation of Louisiana’s anti-mask law, LSA-R.S. 14:313, which carries a 6 month to 3 year term of imprisonment. Although every incident has not been confirmed, the MPP spoke to one motorcyclist directly and confirmed that he was arrested for concealing his identity on November 8, 2016.

I'm sure that's all they did to get accused.

In Bossier Parish, it probably is all they did. They also stop a lot of people for items hanging down from the rear view mirror. Usually, the stop is a roust or an excuse to search.

So the law tells them to wear a helmet, then they get arrested for wearing a mask?

I have a feeling this won't stand in court.

I'm sure this is another thing about your "lifestyle" that we "on the outside" just "wouldn't understand."

Why aren't full faced helmets considered in violation of the same law?

According to the article there was at least one person who was arrested under the "no-mask" law for wearing a full face helmet.

that appears to be a retarded application of the law.

1. it's functional in that keeping bugs out of your mouth and wind off your skin so one less thing to cause you to distract yourself for a split second and wreck. also, it's pretty embarrassing to be a motorcyclist

2. your gay motorcycle has a license plate so when you inevitably commit a crime they can just get your plate

Ever been on a motorcycle when it was in the 30s or 40s? Even up until it gets above 70, a lot of people will cover up from the wind.

Were they on their bike travelling down a highway, or were they standing in a bank with their hands under their shirt?

which is clearly the intent of the law and I also don't care if they enforce it on people in cars because it serves no purpose or function other than to conceal your identity.

but on a motorcycle? you make them wear helmets, it's a state law. I know the cranium is the priority but is your fricking face not to be protected? it's also a matter of safety for the drivers around them.

And if by arrest, you mean jail (not a ticket) we're also talking about a royal waste of time and money.

I see people in jail for a traffic violation or shite like this - ridiculous.
