When did we get to the point that tying a noose is worthy of a campus panic and a national news story? It’s a piece of rope. It’s not evil. Tying a knot that’s basically a heavy slip knot, also not evil. Freaking overly sensitive people out, who were not born when lynchings were happening, also not evil.

Yeah but cmon. You know as well as I do the racial connotations it now has because of lynching. I don’t believe any story of a noose tbh, they all sound like false flags. But a noose symbol definitely does have a symbol of race to it also.

If I read the story correctly, it was just found sitting in the common area. No note, not planted in a black kids closet or some shite. Just sitting in the common area. My first thought is there was a bunch of kids hanging out on a Saturday night, one had recently learned how to tie a noose, so he did one, and then just left it behind as they all slowly went up to their dorms for bed. But no, let's jump to the conclusion that this was meant as a threat. Nevermind the fact that blacks AND whites have been hung throughout history, but yeah, let's assume it's a race thing.

I definitely agree. They need this boogeyman to exist. There aren’t klansmen roaming the streets with nooses, even in the most racist parts of the country it just doesn’t happen. But they see them on every corner somehow.

I was just saying the symbol of a noose has definitely turned into something beyond “it’s used to kill people, white people are hanged too” and there’s an element of racism to the imagery for sure.
