A house I saw sell in 2020 for 180k just appraised for 290. No updates. No new paint. Roof. Landscaping. Nothing.

What is money really worth nowadays? Who really knows.

Wages can’t keep up with inflation, people can’t curb their appetite for consumption so the only thing that expands is consumer debt.

I am wondering where in the hell these ppl are getting this money from. I have a 2011 Silverado that is great shape, good paint, no noticeable scratches and has 148,000 miles on it. I was considering getting a new one but the hell with that. I will just spend a little money to take care of a few cosmetic things and keep rolling till the wheels fall off.

High prices are not only inflation, but also sellers are trying to recoup losses from being shut down for 2 years from Covid.

Maybe, just maybe, this will force boys to be men again and fix their own trucks and drive em til the wheels fall off.

It really makes it rough when you truly need to have a truck. I have 3 trucks that I use on my farm and that I drive to town or pull the 5th wheel or boat. If I was just towing tows, I'd only need one. It's getting expensive.

I’m wondering when this is going to stop, if someone in her situation puts all of their equity in an overinflated house and this merry go round stops they’ll be stuck for a while

One of my trucks is an 05 Z71 that drove brand new off the lot about 19 years ago. It has close to 210k miles, minor body scratches and dents. I've been purposely trying to dog it out and put some pressure on it. I'd like to get another 3/4 ton but I can't justify it while Ole White is still kicking.

It's been with me through 2 divorces, a third marriage and moves from coast to coast.

I think we were always too quick to sell our cars, and buy new ones, and so this isn't a bad thing, holding on to them, but it does make me thing of the poverty in Europe, and how ordinary Europeans hold onto cars for a very long time, because cars are so expensive. I think we are getting poorer.

The conundrum comes when she has to buy another one vastly over valued with increasing interest rates.

I very briefly considered trading in my 2016 Tundra. Then I saw new truck prices and noped. I don’t understand either how people are affording vehicles and houses.

Well I know a lot of house sales is from investors. fricking rentals everywhere.

That was the Kenyan president’s goal. The Potato achieved it.
