What's it looking like for TM Country and a little south in CenLa? I usually get my winter weather reports from tBoat. Although, last year it lead to a snowpocolypse.

Just a cold cold weekend for us up here. We won’t get out of the 30s until Saturday afternoon and might touch the high teens.

Already got the call from the St. Tammany Parish School Board about they are watching the weather and to look out for any updates.

00z HRRR continues the downtrend. Mostly nothing. A trace in some areas. The chance of the trace will probably be enough to get schools canceled.

As that downward model trend has progressed, NOAA LIX has upped the chances. A bit bizarre. I have to wonder if they are seeing colder temperatures than what the models represent. A 1-2 degree reduction at the surface has big impacts.

The only thing I can figure is that they aren't buying the dry air taking over as the bulk of the rain moves out. They're probably seeing those light streamers in the area could be enough to cause problems, and by that time the temps are below freezing.

Here's your answer:

quote:

Quick update on tomorrow night...potential and confidence is low and the main question mark is moisture available. Right now all models have trended drier with the bulk of the activity along the coast or to the south. However, looking at fcst soundings along I-12, much of the column is saturated for 6 to possibly 10 hrs. And where it is not completely saturated it is above those drier layers with lift being indicated. That would allow for precip to fall into that drier layer with evaporative cooling moistening and and cooling that layer. With that even though the trend has been drier it won`t take much to get precip and if precip is falling there will be winter precip to deal with. /CAB/

It sure seems like you have done a lot of wish casting in this thread.

NWS has an advisory because people would be bitching if there was no advisory and we got ANY amount of ice

the “gut feeling” part is a joke if you’ve read the hurricane threads around here. Not wishcasting
