re: Snoring solutions

Same here, ThighMeat, had big time apnea and used CPAP for a few months and quit it. The big masks just didn’t work for me.
Then a flare up with AFib convinced me to get back on track. Got a comfortable nasal pillow and underwent successful cardiac ablation about two years ago. Sleep and feel much better. AFib totally gone.
Modern CPAP devices are much better and nasal pillows (fit only in the nostrils) are quite comfortable.
Also learn to hang the hose over the bed’s headboard or fashion some sort of overhead hose hanger and you’ll sleep in any position you want without tangling.
CPAP is best alternative today but no doubt it will improve with technology. INSPIRE surgery scares me more than any CPAP inconvenience.
NOTE: took a three day vacation this past week and left CPAP at home because I didn’t want to fly with it. That was a mistake. Did not sleep well and wife didn’t like that my snoring returned.

Not funny.
You will become a mouth breather which causes a cornucopia of other sleep problems.

Haven't snored since I got my tonsils and adenoids out a couple months ago. Do not recommend

You can have sleep apnea without being overweight.

I took a sleep study last year. The threshold for apnea is 5 events per hour.
I had 5.1.
I still sleep like shite though most nights. Just bought a PureSleep thing so we’ll see how that goes. Will look into CPAP if it doesn’t help. I also have a deviated septum, not terribly but enough that it matters which side I sleep on.

I recently learned I have sleep apnea as well. Getting a sleep study done at the end of the month.

Also going to mention having an adjustable bed. Being able to elevate your head can also open up your airways to prevent snoring.

sleep apnea is a silent killer and is hereditary.
I see this a lot in the last 10 or so years. What is odd is for the first 40 or so years of my life I don’t remember any stories of someone mysteriously dying in their sleep from suffocating. Babies yes but not adults.
Is there any data that points to sleep apnea deaths in a high enough volume to make these claims true?
I’m not trying to start an argument but it seems like a newer claim.
I totally believe the “it helps you sleep better and not snore” part of the claim. It’s just the silent killer part I question.

Yeah of course man. My father, like me, snored terribly his whole life and has never been over weight. I just convinced him after 10 years of me using my machine to get a sleep study and turned out he was just as bad as I was. Here’s the study I was able to find:
