We had pagers and not cell phones until high school, kids born in 1990 had highspeed internet, cell phones, and n64, playstation, and CDs/mp3s by the time they were 5 years old. That's a huge gap.

I agree with you on the gap, but who had high speed internet in 1995? I think we had like a 28.8 modem in 95. 1995-2000 was peak AOL. I actually remember the day very clearly when we went to Best Buy to get a 56k modem.

I did not. I had the screen magnifier, the cig lighter cable, wall cable, extra batteries, and a dozen or so games. Highlighted by Big Hurt Baseball, Joe Montana Football, Talespin, and Sidepocket.

Are Old Millennials those kids that go out of their way to tell people they aren't on social media & reject new technologies. Being stubborn isn't something to brag about. That's why Baby Boomers struggle so hard in recent years. They refuse to get with the times.

That is what I always assumed this generation was about. Always open to new possibilities. Some of the guys in this thread don't even want to acknowledge that they are part of a certain generation.

I guess I'm an old millennial, but for the most part I fully adopt tech. Love it, actually.

But I distinguish technology from being active on social media. I love Twitter, try to avoid Facebook, love Instagram and don't really understand Snapchat use for anything but hot girls.

I had my first cable modem with @home in 1998, that's not that far off

and Peak AOL was not 1995-2000 AOL 3.0 was the peak version and I think that was around 1993

All of those things have good uses to them so to write them off entirely to be "cool" is just kinda laughable imo.

It's honestly really stupid and annoying that someone who is 30-35 is a millennial today.

Most of us grew up without (at least partially) internet access, remember life before cell phones, remember reliance on land lines, remember manual roll down windows in cars, etc. We were old enough to appreciate the differences in pre and post 9/11 America.

Kids in college today are probably pretty heavily indoctrinated with safe spaces and choosing your gender from a list of 800. While my age group and those before us probably helped that develop, that was not our experience.

I get that, but I think very few people with this millennial "complaint" are doing that

I'm an "old millennial" and I don't have certain things because I'm trying to be cool, I just don't have them because I don't understand them and I'm already out of touch, which scares the frick out of me honestly, especially since I have a daughter and if I'm already out of touch with this stuff, I'll be even more out of touch by the time she is a teenager.

I have FB and Instagram. I see the value of twitter.

I don't understand Snapchat enough to see it's value.

Help me out. I'm married with a kid too, so hot chicks isn't an option for me

I have guys my age who share normal (non-hot chick) pictures with their buddies over Snapchat. I just don't get it.

Follow Ford Motor Company or Chipotle on Snapchat - why? I don't think it's "get off my lawn" to not see the utility here

And not doing anything about your lack of understanding is what makes it so negative.

They are excellent resources for news, keeping in touch with family, organizing events, etc. if you use them right. People forget you have complete control over who/what you see. Most people who complain about the things they see on there, refuse to remove them because they still want that extra shot of dopamine when someone "Likes" a picture of theirs.

I just don't like SnapChat.

I love some insta though.

I'm definitely an old millennial. I'm 29 going on 30, I remember pre-cell phones and internet, had original Nintendo, remember life before it got so tech heavy in general, greatest sports memories of my childhood was the 97 homerun race and LSU beating #1 Florida, etc.

Remember my 8th grade classroom when 9/11 happened and how the world changed. I could keep going.
