There is a pretty big rattlesnake roundup in Sweetwater Texas that I have always wanted to go to.
Did it move to Freer, or is this just another occurrence of the same type of event?

I mean it’s a rattlesnake, not a coral.
It causes coagulopathies and won’t cause them immediately. Rapid reversal should help

But it happens. This incident was in 2004 in Louisiana.
quote:
COUSHATTA, La. (AP) — A Red River Parish man who kept caged rattlesnakes in the back of his pawn shop died after one of the rattlers bit him in the hand while he was feeding it.
B.O. "Buddy" Jones III died Tuesday night, less than 12 hours after he was bitten by the timber rattler, Sheriff Johnny Ray Norman said. Jones was feeding a rat to the snake, and its fang hit a vein in his hand, Norman said.
Jones drove himself to a clinic in Coushatta because he was having trouble breathing, and was transferred to a Shreveport hospital, where he died.

Does not equal what I said "not normally fatal...". The VAST majority of bites aren't even envenomated and those that are generally are taken care of at the hospital with an anti venom treatment.

One hit from an eastern diamondback could kill several humans. Juvenile rattlesnakes usually are more dangerous because they can’t control their venom. Most snakebites aren’t fatal because because they are dry bites where the snake is preserving its venom for something it needs to eat rather than telling a perceived threat to itself to piss off. In this case, I am guessing getting hit on the shoulder closer to vital stuff played against him.

Yes, we know. But some pit vipers are considered deadly, that are native to the USA, and they're all rattlesnakes.

Interesting theory, covid came from snakes.

Neither of these are true.

You’d think a person who handles snakes regularly would have snake serum handy.

I’m betting this guy got anti-venom pretty quickly. He looks pretty old and who knows if he smokes or what not. He probably died from a heart attack or stroke or something that was induced or exacerbated by the snakebite.
