If thst WFAA tweet is right, it was a scheduled outage. So the lack of warning is retarded. Still curious as to the reasoning for it though. Just seems odd to have a scheduled outage and don't tell anyone until the evening of. Something isn't adding up.

Apparently they switched to their own power grid and now having issues with it. I can't imagine SMU scheduled a power outage during midterms without warning anyone.

What's retarded is a school charging tens of thousands a semester not renting a bunch of hotel rooms some place or making better arrangements. If I was paying for a kid to go there I would be pissed.

Because all of our hotels just have open rooms all over for an entire college campus

The power is out, there is no class the next day and they make them evacuate? What is going on because that sounds like a hurricane party

As far as I know, they haven't cancelled class tomorrow yet, but I can't imagine they won't. But if I had a midterm, I wouldn't risk that.

Also, just saw on Twitter where there are multiple fire trucks on SMUs campus.

Why do they have to evacuate for a power outage. This is ripe for a conspiracy theory.

If you don't tell people where they need to be to be safe, it's not evacuation, it's eviction, and eviction is violence

Why not kick out the white supremacists and do something useful for a change?

I'm at the Dallas Four Seasons in Las Colinas tonight and its like Sorority and its like spring break with all of the students hanging around this place. A number of them are with their mothers tonight drinking at the bar

I believe it's because there is no backup power; therefore, no fire detection system active. Can't occupy building that size with fire detection/suppression active.

I don't understand how you are just excusing them from kicking people out of their living quarters. If something is going on they are entilted to know, and if it's something on SMU's end they should have to provide temporary housing for the students just like any other landlord would.

Y'all are some dumbasses if you don't see the fricking problem here.

While I sympathize with their plight (they are kids basically), I will say that I’ve never been offered a place to stay when I’ve had to evacuate for a hurricane.

Don’t see much difference. Isn’t time they grow up anyhow?

You're right, but it's absurd to ignore the logistics of booking rooms all over town for every student living on campus
