There's a documentary show on Netflix, I think, about them. It is a few years old now, but is worth the watch.

His firing caused the entire project to shut down. The director on that one was a complete dick. Totally unprofessional.

I work with a guy who was a smoke jumper in his younger years. After the stories he has told me, I want no part of that shite

Vinny Chase shot part of a movie as the second lead about them about a decade ago, but because of a dick director, the movie was over schedule and over budget and the film was shutdown.
The hot studio director nearly had to blow the studio head after her very first Big budget film was a bust.

Insanely hard to get into, and once people (mostly men, but a few women) make the cut, the usually stay on as long as they are physically able. You basically have to pay your dues on ground based firecrews before you get a tryout. There are only a handful of full time positions. The rest are part timers, so lots of teachers, carpenters, and other seasonal workers. Fun fact: You have to repair your own gear, which means learning how to sew. Another fun fact: There's a deep smoke jumper-CIA connection. The Agency used them in the fifties and sixties to run their air ops. A little about that here LINK

I'll tell you what. Those guys are just like the total opposite of me. I have mad respect for them but I don't understand them at all. They are wired differently.
Thank God they're around because I'm sure not doing that.

Vince really blew that role. Good thing Ari put that Kraut in his place!!

Young Men and Fire is a great read. Sad but informative.

Quite the opposite. He got the lead in Scorcese’s Great Gatsby because of it.

The director was a real dick. Vinny was great in his scenes. He was a great second lead. I'm still pissed the studio pulled the plug on it.

The little bit of the film I saw, Vinny looked really good. Verner (the director) really fricked up what would have been a great movie. It’s probably what fed into Vinny’s drug addiction.

Would highly suggest this book if you're interested in learning more. The training they go through is insane.

Newsflash. Vincent Chase was a terrible actor from the beginning. He self-sabotaged nearly every opportunity he had in the film industry with the mindset of “frick it, we can always move back to Queens”
I mean, even his mentos commercial was sub-par and it speaks to Ari Gold’s reputation for cashing in all of his chips with this guy.
