My shop which is detached from my house is 450 sqft. It has a window unit and is in now way connected to my main house. For days that are too hot to sit on the porch, I want to smoke a cigar in the shop. I need to ventilate the place, because the smoke gets thick in there quick. What kind of system should I use? Would a hood vent piped out of the roof be enough?

Very subtle.

Coach, get one of those stand alone deals. They look like a humidifier, but they clean the air.

I want a similar set up for, er.. "cigars" too. Preferably with charcoal filtration.

since a cigar thread. I have to buy a box of "it's a girl" cigars for my future goddaughter for tomorrow, where do I get those?

Any decent cigar shop will have them. They will also have the bubblegum kind for the kids.

Congrats, man.

Called an "air scrubber". It's those boxes you see on the roof at cigar bars. That would be best. If you try to just extract the smoke out of the room, guess what else you are sending outside? All of your cool air. Since you are in this room solely because it is hot outside then that would seem to be self-defeating.

Thanks, I couldn't recall the name.

NASA developed a lot of this technology (Apollo 13).
Jack Roush took it over and put it in a bunch of racecars, especially Rusty's Cup cars. Carbon monoxide poisoning used to be a huge problem.

I was thinking of one that was stand-alone and self-contained, b/c you are right about the cool air.

Smoke eaters are the term, but a lot of shops are getting away from that and just going with a pure exhaust model. It works a lot better, but the disadvantage being that you're also exhausting all of the nicely chilled air in the room.

It's the depression brought on by the impotence, I guess.

Well shite. A quick internet search shows that these smoke eaters are $1000+ my in laws are remodeling their kitchen and their old hood vent is free so I may try that or just sweat it out on the porch
