How does this matter? A hit and run is justification to light up a car with 10 bullets now?

It is not

That part of his lawyers comment is useless. To me, it shows he was the aggressor at the time of him murdering Smith.

What's he gonna say.."he hit my car, so I followed him for blocks, rear ended him, and shot his ads because I feared for my life"?

I'm sure that defense will work!

Give it up fella.. common sense is frowned upon. As is the law, no wonder N.O. is such a wonderful place now days..

I'm not saying this happened,

But,

What if Smith rear ended him and ran. He follows Smith. He then rear ends smith. They both exit vehicle and exchange words. Smith says "I'm goin to kill you. Walks bag to car and is reaching into vehicle for gun and then The guy shot him. And let's say they find a gun in Smiths console

If, like I said, if that is what happened I can see him having a chance

I doubt he is after this case. I don't envy him at all for having this job. He is going to end up extremely hated in the city if he tries to pain Will Smith in a bad light.

Smith's vehicle would have damage to the front end.

I've read only one gun was recovered from the scene

If we knew exactly what we know now and the shooter looked like this I would bet the majority of TD would be singing a different tune

Well, being shot in the back in the driver's seat probably means Smith was reaching towards the center console when he got popped meaning Smith was seated at the wheel and the shooter was outside he vehicle. He had to have followed Smith back to his car.

or he could have just been in that area the whole time

This. If the perp's family has a pending lawsuit where the cops used "feared for my life" as justification for killing his father then that would be an interesting twist. Forces them to contradict themselves.

Not saying that's what happened or will happen but at this point it's safe to say there's more to the story than what has gotten out.

Also, how does the defendant afford this attorney if he's a TPOS?

I doubt NOPD wouldn't have searched Wills car, also pictures Have Will slumped over the drivers seat. That would be awful stupid to get in your car close the door get in your seat so you can get a gun.

The lawyer is doing his job trying to build a defense for his client, however its not a very good one considering even if Will hit his car earlier it doesn't justify the shooting.

so getting a useless thug off for killing a saint wouldn't cause some of the city to dislike the guy?

most people already feel criminal attorneys are greasy and a step above an ambulance chaser. I know its his job, but still shitty position to be in considering Will Smith is a well liked, well known figure in New Orleans.

Will Smith used a "greasy criminal attorney" to help him get off dragging his wife around a parking lot

Drop the blame the lawyer card. He is doing his job

i mean its not like its Drew Brees.

There will always be irrational people, on both sides. If the facts come out against Smith, you'd have to be short sighted to be mad at the attorney for that.

If Hayes ends up locked up, no one will remember who represented him

Yet without them innocent people get railroaded by the police and DA and poor people will hardly see a dime from insurance companies and big companies.

this changes everything…i mean if it turns out a guy was rude to you, I think you should have the right to blast him to kingdom come, shoot his wife and devastate his kids for eternity...
