The most popular price range out there isn't really available in Lafayette unless you don't mind a dated house. If you want new construction and don't want to spend 500k+ it's out of town.

Youngsville is great if you have young kids. BUT if your jobs, kids schools, etc are in Lafayette consider Lafayette just because of the traffic.

Kids? Public or private school?

Parts of Lafayette and youngsville are a couple of the nicer places in LA esp for families.

Yeah if you're into defunct, crime ridden, welfare taking advantage of towns. Then Franklin is the place to be.

Only pro is Danny's.

Erath schools are top notch, maurice is good and closer to lafy. If you live in Abbeville the schools are crap so you would have to pay for VC but the school sucks, you just pay for your kid to go to school with white kids, but not getting a better education.

So who lives in those big historic homes on Main St? They have to have a lot of money right? I know the town isn't great but those houses appear to be really nice. I imagine they all send their kids to Hanson.

I am talking about 182 between new Iberia and Broussard. I would never move to jeanerette. Or close to it.

Just because the address says Old Jeanerette Rd doesn't mean you're in Jeanerette. 182 between New Iberia and Broussard is ok, but I wouldn't want the traffic noise from 182. You're right that trailer parks backing up to Spanish Lake don't make much sense.

A lot of those big old houses are up for sale along Main Street. All the ones that are owned is old money. They are parents of people I went to high school with. They are all boomers and will be dead within 15 yrs. nobody with half a brain is gonna pay insane money for those houses. All the new money has moved along the bayou towards centerville and charenton

And Hanson will be losing their football program soon, so that school is dying a slow death. St. John is not doing well from what I hear as well. The public schools there are about what you expect from a welfare infected toilet of a town.

I'm just going to drive thru there and take a look. I have an "X" amount that I want to spend, saying that we sell our current home at a decent price. What about Breaux Bridge? Just found a home there within the price range on the teche but don't know the demographics of the town. Last time I was there for the crawfish fest and it was a shite show.

Only positive about Franklin, but I do agree it is beautiful.

Unless things have changed in the last 30 years, Franklin is NOT welcoming to outsiders. I lived there for several years and was amazed at how closed that place was.

You could do worse than Breaux Bridge

You'd be using private schools

Teurlings for high school

Erath schools ARE top notch. We don't live in the area but I can tell you VC does not suck by any stretch.

There are several black kids ... And Asians as well.

I'm not saying that their education is ANY BETTER than Erath but to call it sucky is wrong.

What do you say that about Hanson? Not arguing the point but genuinely curious. They're in our district.

I have been to Franklin once.. It was to watch a high school playoff game & from what I remember, it was a complete shithole.

Erath is a top public education in the state. I went to VC and ahs, and VC didn't offer near the college prep classes that AHS did. VC is a good education because of small classes but it's nothing special at all.
