Small chance asteroid hits Earth in 2135 ...

but NASA is working on a plan!
LINK
Sometime the day before, scientists say, there is a small chance that an asteroid the size of the Empire State Building will smack into Earth, destroying a lot of living things on the planet.
But don’t worry. NASA has got you covered.
Forward-thinking astrophysicists and people who specialize in blowing things up with nuclear weapons have come up with a plan, which they swear was not drawn up by Bruce Willis.
If the asteroid — it is named Bennu — decides to go rogue, they could send a nearly nine-ton “bulk impactor” to push it out of Earth’s orbit. Or, more likely, they would gently nudge it out of its apocalyptic path using a nuclear device.

Smaller chance that I'll be alive to care.

Bring it on... humanity seems to have peaked long before this anyway

I mean if they don't have that beat in 100 years they deserve it.
fricking millennials will find a way to frick it up though. They're like a whole generation of Popeyes workers.

35 year olds are millenials too

Millenials are much more financially responsible than baby boomers
quote:
Bank of America recently released survey results that fly in the face of some of the most prevalent stereotypes about millennials: They’re all suffocating under student and credit card debt, laughing at the suggestion they should put money away for their future. On the contrary, says the study: One in six has at least $100,000 saved.
And every day we read about how stupid old people don't have any money to retire

Didn't we just have a couple of asteroids fly between us and the moon? I don't think either of these were detected until maybe a couple of years ago. There are probably other asteroids flying around out there that are more dangerous that we're unaware of at this time.

The one that wiped out the dinosaurs was the size of Mount Everest FWIW

100% guaranteed there are

Terrible idea.
When you consider the target...composition, dimensions, sheer velocity. You can fire up every nuclear weapon you have and she'll just smile at you and keep on coming.
ETA: I see people either don't get the reference, or they didn't like Armageddon.

They better figure this out. With advances in modern science, and my high level of income, an earth destroying asteroid is the only thing stopping me from living to 245, maybe 300.

Thanks. Just set a reminder in my phone for 2134.

I just want to know how in the hell they know this and figure this out. This asteroid has to be millions of galaxies away right now

Wut
It's definitely in our galaxy if it's going to be here in a little over 100 years. Probably in our solar system.
