LA to Sydney, it's nearly 16 hours direct flight. This doesn't include the flight from NOLA to LA and all the down time in the airport. From door to door it was about 30 hours with no sleep. I would do it again in a heartbeat though.

My sister is actually over the Pacific right now from LAX to SYD.

They said there were big headwinds. I can tell you that the last thing in the world you want after 14 hours in the plane is to have to land, fuel for an hour and then take off again.
When we flew to Taiwan, it was smooth sailing for however many 10+ hours we had been on the plane, and then shite got real as we neared land. I say nothing worse than being stuck on a plane for 10+ hours and then the bad turbulence hits.

Schipol to Atlanta was about 7-8 hours and that's about all I could handle. That's nothing compared to flying to Asia/Australia. If I ever do that they may have to tranquilize me.

Miami to Capetown S Africa...15 hrs

It was a 2 story plane and I had a note from my ortho about a "knee condition"...gave it to attendant..after takeoff, she moved me to a seat where I had all 3 seats empty...took my pills and laid out for about 8 hrs...I woke up and they have a world map and show your position on the screen, we were a little over half way! I hate those progress maps on long flights.

Technically Sydney to LA is longer than LA to Sydney. One is 14.5, the other about 15.5, both sucked

Pretty sure that is backwards but either way the plane ride sucks. Completely worth it though
