Imagine being a property owner in Orleans Parish. Perhaps we’ll both spend money there and tgbait can see the hotel and motel tax do work.

What sort of development would have happened in New Orleans east as a result of that casino being built?

bail bonds, cash check stores, shitty liquor stores, pawn shops, and a single run down Metro PCS.

you know, all the great stuff!

Absolutely nothing would have come of it in NO East 15 miles away. St. Tammany doesn't really need that sort of economic development. It's doing pretty good without it. It would have only worsened Slidell, the low point of the parish.

Couldn’t care less. I voted for Gussman but whatever. None of my votes mean anything

Why is it St Tammany's responsibility to save NO East? Why would people in a pretty nice area* "take a chance" on something more likely than not to make their community shittier? To take a long shot on helping a city that just doubled down on "criminal justice reform" that has proven disastrous nationwide and locally? Why? I can at least understand internal parish issues per short term public income and some business development but I don't understand why we are wrong for not giving a shite about "taking a chance" on one of the worst areas of a neighboring parish.

There is a shitload of undeveloped or cheap rotting development, in NO East to turn into a casino or anything you guys want. You have my moral support, but if you continue to do jack shite with it, it's none of my business.

(*For clarity's sake, Im speaking in terms of the parish, not just Slidell)

St Tammany wouldn’t be what it is today if it wasn’t for Orleans Parish

Neither would Jefferson Parish.

Dude your shite parish just elected a 100% garbage civil sheriff candidate with ZERO experience.
Maybe you should focus your energy on your own home town??

I think it was mainly one, hot guy, that sort of didn’t mind.

Your typical trustee with benefits. Harry Connick style.

You’d have done the same thing.

It will never be like the Amilia Belle back where you from

As far as low energy gaming environment, the Amelia Belle has about as much excitement as a funeral home.

Unless the buffet has reopened, there was only a crappy snack stand for a food option there. The entire facility is on the water, except for a small operations center and warehouse. No valet parking. They recently launched sports betting with the other Boyd properties in Louisiana. I would expect a single window and a single gaming kiosk as their commitment to sports betting. The Amelia Belle had an entire level that is mostly open. The third level was used for its buffet and conference room. They could use that conference room for a full sports betting experience with tables and TVs all over. But I don’t think the bayou area would have enough sports gamblers to keep a full restaurant like Bet MGM at Beau Rivage at the Belle. They barely have enough business as it is.

I will happily drive my arse 2 and half hours to Mississippi where most buffets are open and I have multiple comps from different casinos that are minutes away from each other. Unlike Louisiana where you have to drive and hour or 2 to get to different casinos.

I know I am degenerate gambler.

Now that it has failed, next area where they need to consider moving to is Houma-Thibodaux. I know it will take the legislature’s blessing to add the ICWW in Terrebonne and Lafourche and Bayou Lafourche and surrounding waterways. If they built in the Raceland/Matthews area they could buy one of the golf courses there and build a resort.

The casino that was actually located in the East at Lakefront airport folded easily forever ago but for some reason you are extremely butt hurt over the citizens of a parish you don’t reside in deciding what’s best for them.

I can only understand your frustration in our decision if you were going to make money off of the deal which is the only thing that makes sense because your explanation of it passing leading to economic development in the east is incredibly dumb.

Unlike New Orleans, people on the Northshore aren't stupid.

Hordes of white people fleeing New Orleans, resulting in rampant unregulated sprawl, politicians on the take from developers, traffic from hell, flooding that gets worse every year? St Tammany was pretty nice before Orleans Parish made it what it is today.
