they could have just said that they are against gambling like Laffy Parish did.

But why? St Tammany ovetwhelmingly voted for Sports gambling (something one does individually). Never heard a single anti Casino opinion based on opposition to gambling.
But opposition to destructive economics? Yep. I mean, there are some who would benefit economically. They just happen to be all the wrong people.

I fricked up and stumbled into thr amilia Belle late one night drunk. The cast of characters in the place made for impressive people watching. I smelled like a Camel red for about a week.

It very well may be ‘very scuccessful’ as you put it, but on a social level being from the area as of yourself, it should be depressing.

Orleans Parish will gladly take that license, and the revenue while Slidell will just depend on Scuttlebutts ?

Harrah's/Cesar's has paid off most of the corrupt politicians in NOLA so that is highly unlikely. New Orleans could of easily been a competitor to Las Vegas if not for incompetent voters/government.

I’ve never been in that casino but I everytime I pass by during the middle of the day the parking lot is packed and the boat has been there for over 20 years. They must be doing something right.

Will be interesting to see what they do with the license. They are required to resume gaming operations at Diamond Jack's in Bossier within 60 days. The problem? They held a liquidation sale last year and emptied the place out. I foresee them forfeiting the license and conveying the property to the city of Bossier and leaving Louisiana for good.

What will be the fate of the local politicos that pushed so hard to get it done? I can't see this as a career booster.... and not a great talking point come re-election time.

Running Steve Wynn out of the state was dumb. Letting Mississippi take us behind the wood shed on gambling is dumb. Bottom line is that idiots elect idiots in this state and the smart ones leave.

I don't have a dog in the fight but Slidell, you chose wisely and it has zero to do with religion.

I mean…. It’s literally a suburb of New Orleans. I’d consider it a bedroom community.

Governor already tried that route, was even going to put it on his own land. He was advised it was too shady of a deal for even the FBI to avoid.
