This is democracy. I have a casino less than two miles from me and haven't stepped foot in it in well over 10 years.
These casinos aren't the boom people say they are. They are sad dens of seniors sitting at noisy slots.
I agree.
It’s a personal choice per the La. Constitution.
Vote yes or no if you choose.
NO, and BR have proven that casinos aren’t some kind of panacea. They aren’t necessarily game changers. They do better if they border states that do not permit casinos.

Slidell won't be the NOE bc the Parish DA actually wants to prosecute crimes.

And ftr, I don't knock Nola happily or as an outsider who's always hated it. I loved the city, but just couldnt stand what it has become. It seems intent on moving faster down the toilet.
The NS has plenty of SELA bonafides. Great places to eat, much of the culture is of people with long NO heritage.
Just dont expect much to happen after 10pm and whatever you do, dont count on an Uber coming in 15 minutes or less.

Your people are the criminals 99% of the time. Please STFU already.

It's like being a little bit pregnant. You can't do it. For it to be an economic game changer you have to go all the way. Casino's up and down Canal St, and bring it to a Vegas quality get away or you just jerking yourselves off.
I agree on putting them by boarder states with no gaming.

There is absolutely nothing the government or private business can do to save the East. If there was something that can be done why hasn’t New Orleans done anything to try to stop it’s decline? Tesla could open up a plant there and it wouldn’t make it a year due to the daily theft that would occur
100%.
I mean for fricksake, they lost a fricking Lowes.
In a place with a shite ton of land left to develop.
When's the last time youve seen a Lowe's or Home Depot close down?

Bayou Lacombe may as well be the Grand Canyon... politically speaking.
And that's exactly how they like it. Them remaining a CDP isn't accident. All attempts to incorporate have been defeated over and over again through the years. They're willing to trade political representation for freedom and fatter wallet

This map shows where Lowe's is closing stores

Little known but there's a lot of speculation and evidence that the oldest European settled city in North America is near what is current day Biloxi Mississippi

Thanks for the map but that's not a whole a lot of locations considering how many there are.
I also wonder if there wasn't already Market saturation in those areas. That wasn't the case out east. There is the Home Depot out off of Bullard but that's been there forever and they opened the Lowe's after already doing the market research in the area and then had to close

St. Tammany already has the reputation nationwide regarding business as another California.
With Abita Hippies, anti frackers, anti redevelopment of a former concrete products manufacturing for building the Causeway and Atchafalaya Basin bridge, and now this.
Maybe they will score another low paying jobs warehouse off of I-12.
Keeping property values lower than any other population center below Alexandria.

What really gets me is how the anti casino folks lied and claimed their resistance was that it would hurt the economy. Instead they could have just said that they are against gambling like Laffy Parish did.

The influx of Chalmatians post Katrina sure didn't help St. Tammany
