As you’re getting settled in for the night.

Laugh.

Stand up comedy, a funny book or movie.
A sleep doctor had been treating sleep disorders for decades and when he discovered this, his success rate among patients went to the 80-90 percentile.

This came from and interview I heard with the doctor.

Dr. Schwab at Louisiana Sleep Foundation is a good dude. If you want another neurologist then try neuro medical center folks. Plenty of good neurologists over there

Dr Schwab. He probably has more experience treating narcolepsy than just about any other doc in BR and his office is not a cluster like the neuromedical center.

????

More than Dr Bordelon? I know both. Not trying to take a shot at Schwab at all. Just saying Bordelon has been practicing almost as long as Schwab has been alive.

I appreciate all the help. Going to call Dr. Schwabs office in the am. My average time going into REM sleep during my MSLT was 4 minutes so it’s severe and that test was done in 2010. It’s much worse now.

If you hit REM twice during the MSLT in that time frame, yeah you have narcolepsy.

Not to make light of your disease but do you have issues where you can fall asleep at any time? That's the only experience with narcolepsy that I have. I'm sure the severity varies

I fell asleep during all the naps, twice within 1 minute. I also have cataplexy. It’s very difficult to stay awake all the time. Driving more than an hour is a chore. Naps are a Necessity. I have also worked the night shift for 6 years, so I’m sure that doesn’t help.

Doesn’t mean anything. REM is the key, not just sleep when diagnosing narcolepsy. The naps are 20-35 minutes long depending on when/if you fall asleep. Normal sleep onset is 8-12 minutes.

Here’s a big flag. That plus REM in naps...narcolepsy it is.

I’ve actually seen Dr Thompson write scripts for a daily nap and employers had to allow it.

I hope Dr Schwab gets you fixed up. He seems like a good guy.
