kind of odd that the student jumper made no attempt to pop the main.

How would you know he didn't? Dude is on his own strapped to a corpse and basically can't see behind him. How would he know what did or didn't open? I would imagine it was chaotic once he realized (if he did) that the master was out.
I wouldn't imagine they were in some sort of controlled descent

It will be interesting to see if the instructor was already dead when they hit the ground

Maybe he had a heart attack mid jump?

That's almost a certainty ... the jumpmaster was dead before he hit the ground. I know there have been times, especially when strapped-in with large cargo, where I experienced some constriction in the bird and couldn't wait to get out ... but once you're out your blood starts flowing again and you're good. So if they made it out the door ... it had to be something to do with ... I dunno, tough to speculate. Heart attack ... maybe. Most jumpmasters know when something is wrong and the first thing they are going to do is save their ride.

The other thing is that 99% of the time you've got someone flying camera or video in front of or behind you ... and there have been times when camera men have tracked in and pulled cords if there was enough altitude remaining .... I'm going to call around and find out what happened.

I mean the student jumper must have been aware enough to know something was going on so he, or she, must have managed to crank their head around enough to see the jumpmaster unconscious ... which would cause some serious problems in terms of attitude and vector ... sheeeesh, I can only imagine how FUBARed that ride must have been.

Yeah and I bet he eats too! People choke sometimes so why wouldn't he jump out of an airplane!

Landed on golf course reminds me of the Shooter MaGavin quote: "how am I suppose to chip with that going on!"

Witnesses also reported the cause of death appeared to be gravity.
Well, those witnesses are stupid. The cause of death was the sudden impact.

Quite different than jumping out or an aircraft.

And save the "you're more likely to die driving" bullshite. Of course you're more likely to die driving than jumping out of an airplane. The person who has skydived more than anyone else in the world has spent exponentially more time driving than falling to earth.

I mean frick, just ONE trip to Walmart is longer than jumping out of a plane several times.

Sounds like that business is in danger of going into a free fall if they don't pull some strings to make sure this never happens again. Their attorneys need to hit the ground running to keep this from spiraling out of control.

You don't need a parachute to go skydiving. You need a parachute to go skydiving twice.

I hope it isn't Gold Coast. That's who I have skydived with.

This. I went in Hammond, but don't think it was this location.

People drive because it's basically a necessity for family life. There is little choice there.

Skydiving may be fun, but it's an unnecessary risk.
