I think I’ve worked up a tolerance from all my years of it

I started when I was 14. Quit when I was 39. Skoal, Kodiak and Redman. At least a tin a day. Redman when I fished. For years I said when I retired I might start back. Well I’m retired now, but I’m worried about cancer (my dad had bladder cancer likely caused by tobacco). Nothing beat a dip after a meal. Or, a dip and a beer while playing cards. Damn straight it was relaxing

I was around the same age as well. The only dip we had back then was Skoal, Happy Days, and Copenhagen though. I started off with Skoal but quickly moved to Copenhagen when I started HS. Back then we could dip at school at break and lunch, or let’s just say nobody cared. Nothing quite like the bond of friendship that comes from you and your buddies grabbing a dip and shooting the shite.

The only thing I really didn’t like about dip back then was the cans with their cardboard bottoms. You’ll find out why when you get wet and that bottom comes apart and dip gets everywhere, and it better not be Skoal because it will light you’re arse up quite literally

I got my boys started on Happy Days when they were old enough to hunt and fish. They didn't like it at first, but they stuck with it until they did. I let the oldest move up to Skoal this summer, when he turned 15, in exchange for his promise to quit smoking. So far, so good.

Copenhagen straight long cut... on Saturdays I might throw a dash of Wild Turkey in the can, especially during deer season.

They moved on from cardboard? I can tell the older dippers from only having Cope fine to dip. Having all of these choices tells me I have been out of the game for a while. I started young, too. I can remember walking to the local store and buying Skoal wintergreen for $1.25 a can.
