A panel hired by school made the statement encouraging cc. . You would think that the school would be completely aware of what was being conveyed to the students,. If they didn’t, shame on the them. . Since the presentation was conducted more than once, the school obviously supported the content or they wouldn’t have allowed the presentation to be conducted again to another group of students. Sja apparantly trying to work on image, but it has backfired.

Have a child at SJA and we will be more than likely moving her. Absolutely inexcusable

Over the years, I’ve told my classes often that i wish I would have gone to CC right out of high school to help with the transition to college. A lot of my students had no idea that you could go to CC for a year or two, then transfer to a 4 year.
Although I was a great high school student, I was so immature and had no self motivation or self discipline, so when I got to LSU and had no parents keeping me in check, all I wanted to do was party and chase girls.

My older daughter was interested in going there - I was for it at the time bc I also had attended an all girls Catholic high school - although there were a few teachers at SJA I didn’t approve of
Luckily, different things happened and my older daughter does not attend SJA
My friend, who is a SJA alumna, decided to send her daughter somewhere else bc she didn’t like what SJA was doing (this was a few years back) and I realized then what happened was for the better
I think it’s unfortunate that SJA thought something like this was necessary bc of one student.

SJA started this because Skai Jackson called them out on twitter back in June. The recent student incident caused them to move up the presentations.

They should probably go to the community college.... If they plan on going to a 4 year university to major in philosophy or some shite. Because they might actually find a two year degree that will be more valuable to them.

Totally agree but one should go to cc for the right reasons. If for maturity reasons or others geared at a student’s individual needs that is great, but suggesting that they not go because minorities should have priority regardless of academic qualifications is ridiculous! In a perfect world, there would be no race box to check off and/or consider in college acceptance.

I don't like it, but sja might be best school in br

Well this thread is officially over. OweO and you have begun posting in it.
SJA isn’t even the best catholic school in BR. A very good school, no doubt, but not the best.
I always enjoy when public school graduates discuss and rank the private high schools of BR, so please continue.

frick community college and 4 year college
way 2 many good paying trade jobs out there desperately needing peeps. stop taking on 100K debt for that degree that will pay you 30K.
HS should be pushing kids to trade schools and to apprenticeships, rather than pushing them into debt

Except my son who said F college after one year and is now a finance manager at a large car dealership. Makes more than you'd guess.
Or like $1,000,000.00 per day.
Are you or am I correct?

I would argue Catholic High is the best, but all of the Catholic schools in BR are excellent so it’s really a moot point.

I’m done with all of the misinformation I’m reading here. My daughter who attends SJA did not hear any of the inflammatory content suggested by the OP. To clarify, her presentation did not have any of that information in it. There was a question and answer session in each class and it is my understanding that is was the student asked questions that lead to some of these discussions in one class. It is misleading for posts to imply that SJA presented that material as part of the presentation to all students. My child did not have that experience and hearsay is dangerous.

Good luck to your daughter in her first year at BRCC.

SJA needs a taste of austerity.
