They are patting down passengers and swabbing carry ons at the gate. Must be 10 TSA agents over there.

Not unprecedented. I've seen this happen a handful of times.
I'm guessing its some sort of audit protocol where a handful of TSA show up at a gate and recheck all ID's and do some random searches.

For two days now there have been nonstop jets and helicopter flying all over the city snd greater NO area.

This is happening for most of the flights I have heard of heading to NOLA. Connecting flights are getting a second screening at the gate. Makes you wonder what they know or are they just being overly cautious after Bourbon Street.
