re: Sincere question; what has JBE done for LOUISIANA?

It’s hilarious that people buy JBE’s “I’m a moderate” bullshite. He had the most liberal, anti-business voting record when he was a legislator. He is basically AOC other than abortion. On guns, he is not a champion of gun rights anymore than Joe Biden is, who’s about to appoint Beto as his “Hell yes I’m coming for your guns!” Gun Czar. On business and the role of Government, JBE’s AOC. frick him.
I'm not a fan of how he has handled Covid but I don't think he is near as left as most of the rest of the democratic party is. I know you mentioned abortion, but him being anti abortion in today's climate is pretty big for a democrat. I agree his stance on guns is overall weak. Now understand, he is definitely a liberal, but in today's climate, I still consider him moderate.

He has turned around Louisiana's economy making it one of the fastest-growing states in the US. Our GDP is up and our tax revenues are at historic highs because of his ability to attract new business and investment to Louisiana.
I'm an objective guy, and everything you just said is factually wrong.
Hence your comment is yet another shining example of someone who can't see the forest through the trees. JBE has added over three million jobs this year alone. He put guard rails up on the Causeway, allowed the Menhaden Industry to flourish off our coast, saved hundreds of thousands of lives due to his quick actions, and he has kept New Orleans and Baton Rouge on track economically to break another record. Shall I go on?

Best Governor Texas has ever had.
Texas doesn’t need JBE’s help in any way, form, or fashion. Like I’ve said before:
Nobody ever has said, “I cannot wait to move to Louisiana and start my career.” Louisiana is a sad state of affairs and has been for decades.

John Bel Edwards has done more to attack conservative family values than David Vitter's haters ever accused him of doing. There's no debate to be had about that.
Louisiana electing the most leftist Governor since Edwin Edwards over solid and reliable conservatives in David Vitter and Eddie Rispone is one of the biggest own goals I've ever seen.
You reap what you sow. Elections have consequences and you need to make pragmatic and rational choices instead of being pissed your candidate didn't make the runoff.

Well just not being Bobby Jindal enough for me
Right now, he's doing exactly what he accused Bobby Jindal of doing in his second term.
And that's doing everything he can to get noticed by the national media and the DNC in an effort to get out of Louisiana and climb up the political ladder.
And just like it didn't work for Jindal, it's not going to work for JBE either.

Can you elaborate on this please? What has he done to attack conservative family values?

Like taking a surplus and driving it in the hole? good ole trickle down economics

I know you're a moron but I'll bite anyway.
John Bel Edwards has attacked conservative family values through endless lockdowns that crushes jobs, cause more suicides, more family strife, more crime and poverty. And that's on top of the high taxes and red tape out of the arse he's put out, attacks on our economic engine in oil and gas that provides economic security for working families with his legacy lawsuits and continued patronage of people and organizations that support abortion including late term abortion, and appointing a pro-abortionist from Boston to run the department of health despite claiming to be pro life himself.
JBE was always lying about being the conservative blue dog dixiecrat he claimed to be.
And unless you've been living under a rock, that's clear now.

In his most recent election it's more about what he didn't do. I don't agree with some of the things he's done, shut downs included. But Griby's lap boy Rispone would've decimated Louisiana's rural health care system and scorched local tax bases with the abolition of corporate property taxes. I see the value in allowing a company some level of relief when they're building an industrial facility and not bringing in any revenue. But to say they shouldn't spend a single dime on the strain they put on infrastructure long term only degrades the communities they operate in and puts the burden back on people who's homes are valued at more than $75,000. Further to that, these same people want to allow parishes to charge people who's homes are assessed below $75,000 to pay some property taxes on at lease $15,000 on the value of their home. I don't like the idea of telling billion dollar corporations they don't have to pay anything while telling poor people they should pay something.
This is precisely the Huey Long style liberalism that Louisiana cannot escape from and still continues to plague this state.
It's a great example as to how and why Louisiana cannot attract any economic development worth a damn.
Huey Long's statue needs to blown up and melted down into something useful like prison bars.

When he closed / limited businesses but let abortion clinics & casinos be open
ETA
How would you feel if this were your family member?
Knowing someone could go have an abortion but your loved one could not have a surgery that could possibly save their life?

The pro-life organizations that really pay attention to pro life news and track politicians and political candidates that claim to be pro-life were and still are not even the least bit impressed by John Bel Edwards.
JBE is a liar.

The legislature actually passed substantial tort reform earlier this year back in June and that is one of the most significant losses of JBE's tenure as Governor. It actually has quite a bit of teeth to it and will go into effect next year.
I posted about it when it happened. LINK
This was only possible because the GOP has supermajority in the senate and being just two seats shy of that in the house but they got it because there were some democrats that wanted tort reform as well.
Once JBE is gone and a real business friendly conservative is elected governor, the legislature will update it some more and go full bore on tort reform.

Louisiana actually used to have some industry. Oil and Gas, Timber, Farming, Fishing, Agriculture, etc. These industries (mostly O&G) attracted a few out of staters, but unfortunately most of these entities were private and were passed down to the next generation and the recipients DNGAF about carrying on the family business, and sold out to the highest bidder and moved away. Louisiana is a political nightmare for most and not even worth the hassle for the rest. Ask yourself this La residents: Why do so many well to do La residents, current successful business owners, or former business owners want to be elected Parish Sheriff? Hmmm! For that less than 6 fig salary?

The Causeway is a private entity, not a state road.

That’s a very fair question with an extremely disappointing answer.
Louisiana got exactly what it voted for AGAIN. A carbon copy of JBE’s 1st term...a repeat of incompetence. Never change La...keep accepting low standards. LOL!!
