This does not change Alabama's status in any way. It takes more than a top-down (no pun intended) government mandate to change the true character of a state.
In all seriousness, stereotypes die hard regardless of how inaccurate they are. To me, Alabama will always be the state immortalized in Forrest Gump, the state of Harvey Updyke, slack-jawed rednecks, and Gulf Shores.

From all of the talk I've heard lately, from everywhere, it does nothing but reinforce that Alabama is nothing but Bible thumping intolerant rednecks. I'm ashamed of it .

I don't understand why people bring religion into this.
The courts aren't telling your church they have to marry gay people. They are telling the governments.
You can rest east knowing no one can ever force your Baptist church to sinfully wed gay people.
