Did you “winterize” your home?

Did you buy a generator, a kerosene space heater, stock firewood and water in preparation for the winter?

Even if the power plants could keep up, a limb could take out your power line and leave you without power.

If you didn’t winterize your home you obviously didn’t think the risk of a severe winter storm was worth the money or time to be prepared.

Why are you blaming a power company (wether renewable or fossil fuel) for making the same judgement call?

Your post makes perfect sense, but it won't make a difference. They'll still look for anyone to blame but themselves.

Calm down. Stop acting like everyone is so soft they can’t take a little criticism.

I’m simply trying to give them some perspective.

Every outcome can’t be planned for perfectly. And if they did go overboard with every preventative measure people would be complaining that their bill was too high.

This is, quite literally, the worst storm in most peoples lives who live in the south. They were unprepared because they didn't know what to expect.

Its no secret that you're kind of a self righteous dickhead on here. Why don't you wait until they have power and running water before showing your arse?

Were you soapboxing like this to people in Lake Charles after the hurricane?

Almost nobody does this in the south where winters may give us a couple of days below freezing.

Yea that makes my point exactly. Stop blaming the power companies. Stop making this political. It’s a natural disaster.

Because my house isn't a government owned monopoly tasked with providing power?

Stupid bitch, sweet melt though

It wouldn't be so bad if the majority of people weren't conditioned to rely on govt. for everything.

No because they weren’t irrationally blaming people that thought the same way as they did about preparation.

Do you think there was enough supply of these items in Texas for every person to run out and purchase them all before the storm arrived?

The criticism comes from their complaining about the USA then a simple cold snap shuts the state down. How will they survive without our help or access to the gulf?

No.

My entire point is that certain scenarios can’t be planned for. Or the cost to plan for them is prohibitive.

Basically. Texas has this issue where they like to bloviate and act like they don't need anyone else, when in fact they are just a big suck on the teet of the US govt.

Because it's their fricking job to provide power. When you pay for a service you expect that company providing the service should have contingency plans if that service has issues.
