I wish I had pics of my father in laws house. If you take a long shower the bathroom walls will still bleed nicotine even through about 17 coats of Kilz. He’s been dead almost 10 years and it still happens.

You basically have to gut out all of the Sheetrock.

I know I just don’t want to deal with it and what I’m going to find in the walls of a house built in the 1800s.

They didn’t have Sheetrock in the 1800’s. Wood walls or plaster? Your’ll be much better off.

It was renovated in the 70s I think. But the original flint rock exterior and wood floors are in tact. We have almost no info on the renovation because her dad was such a weirdo. It has old arse electrical run on top of the sheet rock and all kinds of old shite. I really need to gut it and update but it’s next to impossible to get workers to come out as far as it is.

When I was stationed in Germany back in the 80s, we had a smoking room on the ground floor of our barracks. They’d make us paint the walls white every so often because they’d look like that.

Good luck with the renovation. Love 19th century houses. Live in an 1870’s house. All cypress and heart pine. No Sheetrock. Just got to keep up with the maintenance. Former owner did a great renovation in 2004.

I’m just saving and preserving it for the next owner.

I think its absolutely disgusting for people to smoke in their house.

This was many years ago, early 2000s when Ebay was just becoming a thing. I used to collect mini helmets signed by players and I will never forget. I bought a Kevin Faulk Pats helmet with his signature. It was certified, I ended up selling them but looking back it was probably a bullshite certification.

Anyway, as soon as I opened the box I could smell it. The chin strap, the white inside of the helmet was yellowish. I left it out overnight in my back yard with a fabric softener on the inside, tried anything I could think of to clean every part except for the signature. Even put orange peels on the inside. And when I say nothing would get rid of the smell. I stopped right before using a very small amount of gasoline to wipe parts of it (then obviously wipe it off right after).

I remember leaving a comment saying that the cigarette smell was so strong that it had to be in a plastic cube otherwise that's the only thing you will smell. They then told me it has been in a bar. I remember they reported me because I told them something back, but people who smoke have no idea how strong the smoke is to non smokers. And its kind of nasty when people smoke and smell like it all the time.

....... I remember flying in and out of Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta Ga and going to one of the smoking rooms. The walls were yellow and the smoke was so thick you didn't even have to light up. The good old days.

When I was a teenager in the 70s, I washed and cleaned the cabs of the trucks in the family busines - about 8-10 International CargoStars.

I hated doing the ones who had drivers that smoked, film on the windshield and dash, ashes and butts mostly in the ashtray, and the lovely smell even in a spartan hard surface cab interior.

We should encourage people to smoke. It's the only viable fix for Social Security.

That's rather disgusting. But what really gets me with smoking is not even the lung cancer risk, but a bad case of emphysema. Can you imagine living the last several years of your life basically breathing through smaller and smaller straws, until you just can't take in enough air to oxygenate your blood? Talk about miserable.

H&E, at Airline and Evangeline, would paint over the ceilings.
