Scheduled to have it done about a week-and-a-half from now. What can I expect in terms of recovery (assuming I don't contract COVID) ?

I've been thru rotator cuff surgery twice. Wasn't fun, but it wasn't terrible. But this surgery will be "open cut" instead of arthroscopic. My surgeon is supposed to be the best in my AO at doing this procedure but ....................

One the the harder rehabs but can have life changing benefits for severe shoulder issues if done by a good surgeon.

It's easier than rotator cuff rehab.

Are you saying this out of personal experience, through somebody you know who had it, or are you a healthcare provider?

As with anything else like this, your PT is important. Take that seriously and you’ll be fine

I had my Rt.(Total) shoulder replacement 16 years ago, mine did not work out,but I knew it was long shot going into it. Who ever telling you that rotator surgery is tougher is full of BS. I had rotator surgery @40 years ago, walk in the park compared to replacement.

Had rotator cuff, labrum, and bicep tendon. If they offer a block, I would do it. That shite was terrible, dilaudid didn’t make a dent!

Had my right shoulder socket broke playing football in '92. Major surgery to rebuild it. I have a lot ot titanium in that shoulder now. Rehab was tough at first and I was 17. Once I started regaining fuller ranges of motion, the strength came back quicker.

You have your work cut out for you, but, like others said, take your rehab serious snd you'll be fine.

Like I said before, it’s a tough rehab but do what you are supposed to do and listening to your therapist is key.

Traditional or reverse? Seeing you already had cuff issues I would hope the reverse was at least discussed

Only about 2 maybe 3 guys in BR I would let do it, and I am going to be needing it sooner rather than later myself

Idk about a shoulder replacement, but I've had a hip replacement and I can tell you that was no picnic. Good luck and god speed.

At your age I was involved in a boating accident that caused a traumatic tear in both spanatus..first diagnosis was replacement..2nd opinion was artho due to the surgeon saying it would be easier on him..I feel for you having been through this.
