Should we give victim families the option of executing the guilty?

I know not all families would want to do it but I think they should have the option to pull the switch or plunge the needle and talk trash as the guilty is dying

No. State executions should be performed with as little malice as possible, thus we should continue the system we have.
This begs the question, 'why?'. My reasoning is that the Constitution forbids cruel and unusual punishment, and having an executioner who is not connected in any way to the victim is just one of the many ways we ensure that we honor this constitutional guarantee.

You could give them the option. I personally wouldn't do it. Would probably not even show up for the execution.

yes as a matter of course the government should be in the bloodlust and revenge business as much as possible.

No. Executions are carried out by "We the people", not "We the me".

Justice is not the same thing as revenge. Blood for blood after a legal trial has proven their guilt is not revenge.

No, it's best to be carried out by an independent third party

No. A civilized society does not make a show out of killing people.

Hell yes... I'd pull the switch to inject the chemicals myself without a moment of hesitation or guilt.

I think they should be the ones that get to decide, not the state (on murder charges). But, carried out by the state.

No. We shouldn't be executing people at all.

I wanted to execute Aaron Brooks.

we could probably do better than the system we currently have.
I think state level capital cases should follow the federal level system. where the AG has to approve of a DA seeking capital punishment.
There is wild inconsistency between Parish to Parish (county to county in other states most likely)

Yes. They should also get to pick the form of death.

Eric Holder should be executed for fast and furious.
