Should there be a law requiring all new buildings use bulletproof glass?

Seems like it would do a lot of good in hurricanes and tornadoes and then you have shite like the riots. If I owned a business I would consider it.

I hear that they’re going to start requiring us to wear bulletproof masks.

I'm going with a rebar reinforced, fireproof, block building.
I will put a good, local artist/mural painter on retainer to paint murals of a storefront that changes with the seasons. The door will be one that goes on a saferoom.

So you want the government to require businesses to install bullet proof glass? I'm sure that's very affordable and won't deter people from starting a business. I don't think you fully understand the implications of what you're suggesting.

bulletproof masks
If I lived in New Orleans that sounds like a solid investment

That would be insanely expensive. Jesus.

Build more factories to make it, gives people more jobs and more production would drive down costs.

or our police departments could just protect them. seems more feasible.

Well, they don’t. People need other options when cops do t do their job.

Longtime lurker but had to post...
Own a 90yr old building in Dallas. Just completed a major renovation that included new storefront glass and walls. I requested my contractor use security glass. As in glass with embedded metal filaments that will stay in one piece if hit with rocks, hammer, etc.
My contractor laughed and said building code is for safety glass that fractures so no one gets cut. But if you use a safety glass punch tool ($12) entry is in less than a second.
At the time I figured it was to protect a customer who accidentally broke the window so he would be protected from harm. Then after two smash and grabs, 3M security film on the inside did the trick.
I guess in light of recent events, building codes are there to protect normal people from accidents. But it sure did make it easier for burglars in my case...

Only a big government person would suggest such a thing.

Somebody doesn't know that bulletproof glass pretty quickly decays and putting quickly decaying windows on a 20+ story building isn't practical.

Any newly constructed commercial property in Louisiana has to have hurricane rated windows.

Makes perfect sense.
Since Mercedes sedans are one of the safest cars on the market we should make a law requiring anyone that wants to drive own one.

How about a law that kills all rioters breaking glass?
Posted on 6/1/20 at 8:05 pm to red sox fan 13
No.
Law enforcement should uphold the law.
