was thinking, maybe when you get insurance every six months they send you a vehicle sticker with a color code.
Many people purchase insurance and stop payment after the initial month of coverage so this would be ineffective.

Reminds of a Sanford and Son episode when Fred was wearing a neck brace. Lamont was skeptical but Fred told him he was rearended by a white man in a Cadillac and he was sitting on top of a gold mine.

You really want to do that in Louisiana.....think about it for a minute...especially in the urban areas?

I have a sticker on my license plate that shows that my registration is current. Doesn't mean that every traffic stop doesn't begin with, "License and registration, please."
And how would the cop react if I said, "Just go check my plate."?

I agree with the sticker idea but NOT the risk-assigned color idea
I’d go with colors for current coverage. Otherwise you could put a sticker on then just keep it there forever after your insurance lapses.

In Texas you don't get your windshield registration sticker unless you furnish proof of insurance.

You have to in LA, too. At least at legit inspection stations.

They'll raise rates $100 per month to pay for the sticker mandate.
