Should I buy a new iPhone from an AT&T store or the Apple Store?

My wife's 6 plus is shot. Water damage, smashed screen, etc. and not under warranty.
She wants to go to either a 5S or a 6. Should I go to ATT or Apple? If I go to Apple will I have to do the next plan?
She's not due for an upgrade yet.
Any help is appreciated.

Warranty wouldn't cover all that nonsense anyway. Insurance would. You will probably have to add an extra line if you're not looking to drop 6-7 hunny.

Always buy from the Apple Store unless you have a reason not to.
They have infinitely better customer service than a carrier if you ever any problems.

My HTC One Windows phone comes with 1 free replacement no questions asked. iPhones suck.

Also, if she has had a 6+ she is gonna hate a 6. It will feel like a toy now. Take the hit and get her another 6+ and tell her to take care of her damn phone. Remind her they actually cost $800. Sounds like she treats it like an empty beer can in her pocket.

I've done both. It doesn't matter. Bought my 6s from AT%T a few weeks ago. Bought my 5s from the Apple Store early last year. The in-person plans are going to be similar (all next if you're with AT&T). You can opt for a contract online with AT&T, but you'll have to buy-out whatever contract or next plan you're currently on either way. I wasn't eligible for an upgrade (which requires a trade-in in good condition) for another couple of months, and wasn't going to be paid up until March. So I just paid it off.
