I have zero mechanical/electrical ability, so I looked for one with a plug and play ability (into "cigarette lighter.")
I also looked for front AND rear cameras (you also have some with optional interior cam, perfect for Uber Drivers.)

Basically, just read independent (NOT SPONSORED) reviews on dash cams. Some have wider viewing angles, some have more camera sharpness, some can be hardwired, some will come on and start recording if car is bumped, even if off and in a parking lot.

Google "best dash cams 2024’ and read the reviews from several different sites. You will soon see the same 2 or 3 popping up in everyone’s top ten lists.

Do you have to change the batteries on these things or can they plug up and charge?

Don’t waste your time since State Farm doesn’t care who is at fault. Their paying out the same amount no matter who is determined to be at fault.

this is basically the same thing that happened to my wife. the womans insurance couldnt get in touch with her so they were trying to say it may not be covered. this was allstate as well.

we may be talking about the same old dumb bitch...turns out she was in a nother minor accident from a couple months before and was ghosting her insurance on that one too.

Need to find out if they have drive safe and save. The app detects sudden moments and breaking as well as crash detection. Could be something there to help your case. Would have to talk to your agent about it though.

Stay4ever;

Mine just runs when car is on. That may be my type of car, because you cannot charge phones, etc, when my car is turned off. I prefer nothing to bleed power when I am not in the car.

Just read reviews, then decide a top three, and watch utube videos with those specific ones. It is peace of mind, I just did a 3000 mile road trip, and was glad to have it. Thankfully, I didn’t need it.

I had someone install mine for me, but my version does not require battery exchanges. It's connected to your car's electrical system. When the car is operating, it records everything and tags events (hard stop, sudden turn, assumed collisions...). When the car is turned off, it goes into sleep mode and only records if it assumes there was a collision

Just wait until the adrenaline wears off 2 weeks later and she shows up to the ER with generalize back and neck complaints.

Not a doctor, but I’m sure you aggravated her previously non-symptomatic degenerative disc disease. A lifetime of steroid injections and nerve ablations should help with her pain. But to be sure, you’ll need to pay for multiple fusion surgeries in case the conservative treatment fails.

Good luck.

Viofo A229 Dash Cam

I have this one in my truck. Really clear video and pics. Front and rear cameras. You can plug and play it or there is a hard wire kit which cleans up the install and also gives you coverage when you are parked without draining your battery.

I got hit at Bennies on the way to the Ole Miss game. The guy that hit me has started ghosting me after saying he would pay damages. Luckily he gave me his insurance info (State Farm). I have three witnesses plus video of him running into me while I was parked at the pump.

Some old bat crazy woman backed into my truck at the community pool. she gets out all apologetic admitting fault .

Took pictures of the damage, her license plate, her driver's license and her insurance card.

Filled a claim and AllState (her insurance) denied to pay because she wouldn't answer their calls and confirm what happened.

I had a kid rear end me with State Farm and for a minute it looked like my incident was going to go down this path. Fortunately they ended up answering State Farm and got my claim processed.

I think it helped that I was super friendly with the 16 yo kid that hit me and I talked to his mom the day he hit me to try to work it out without it hitting their insurance.

The State Farm rep said to take a picture of the individual that hits you. There is a list of crap you have to remember in the event you get in an accident. . . Almost need to write it down somewhere but i'd forget where I wrote it down at.
