Car cut me off (crossed 2+ lanes of traffic to turn left) and I got their back left bumper. No injuries.

I has a passenger, but no other witnesses.
Even tried getting camera footage from a nearby business, but it didn’t catch anything.

Other driver claims to her insurance (we both have State Farm) that I ran into her. State Farm has said she is not liable.

Looking at 8-10k damage on my vehicle. Other than filling a collision claim and getting a dash cam (and PIIHB), is there any other recourse that the OT recommends?

put one in the wife's car after some dumb arse woman hit her in the parking lot. my wife is very non-confrontational and gets flustered in these situations. long story short she didnt get the make/model of the vehicle and the woman only gave her minimal information. her insurance couldn't get in touch with the woman for months, but finally did. having that video would have been much less stressful.

Depending on her car, demand the black box data.

How does one go about getting black box data?

I am interested in seeing if collision sensors etc from mine would be useful, but sounds like an act of God for Volvo to pull it…?

That’s where it gets tricky. Absent getting your own lawyer, you’re probably stuck with whether your insurance pushes the issue or not.

my wife worked in claims a while back, and if you hit someone, you were liable.

also a rule of thumb, if they cut in front of you and you swerve to avoid them and hit something or someone else, you are at fault.

Some old bat crazy woman backed into my truck at the community pool. she gets out all apologetic admitting fault .

Took pictures of the damage, her license plate, her driver's license and her insurance card.

Filled a claim and AllState (her insurance) denied to pay because she wouldn't answer their calls and confirm what happened.

I cussed the claims guy and asked how the F&*K he thought I had all the above information if she didn't give it to me. Freaking POS

Luckily a girl I know witnessed the crash and called them

$5,000.00 plus a rental car for 6 weeks Hope her insurance F'ed her at renewal

Cops came out, but apparently in Houston they don’t have to file a report as long as no injuries and drivers exchange info…

Same with me. Southern University student ran redlight and I clipped the back quarter panel. She lied to the cops and said it was green. Luckily, lady behind her stopped on next light cycle and gave me her info. Said same thing happened to her and she got screwed. So she gladly testified that the girl ran the light. State Farm said it would have been all my responsibility without the kind ladies eye witness account.

For everyone reading this without front and rear dash cams, get them!!!

If you wait until you need one, it’s too late.

They are cheap.

Of course, I guess they can bite you in the butt if you drive like an idiot and you are at fault.

What does one look for when shopping for dash cams?
