Should Bubba Watson Have Removed the Rebel Flag from the General Lee?

Professional golfer Bubba Watson purchased one of the original General Lees made famous in the 70s TV show 'The Dukes of Hazard'.
He made the decision to remove the often-controversial confederate flag that adorned the roof because he didn't want to offend anyone, although he also admitted he did not believe the car or the show was about racism.
Watson, a native of Baghdad, Florida and former Georgia Bulldog golfer, said he was always a fan of the show because of the car.
What do you think about his removal? Is he playing into incessant liberal demands that history be seemingly altered through the removal of confederate flags everywhere, akin to the Nazi flags outlawed in Germany after their own holocaust?
Or should Bubba be commended for what can be seen by most as a simple gesture of kindness and goodwill towards African Americans, who form the majority of many population bases in the modern south?

Total bull crap and I just lost a lot of respect for him.

I don't care. He can set it on fire or pay for it to go to the moon. His business.

He did it for publicity and a social justice pat on the back.

It's his car he can do with it what he wants.
Though the first thing I would do is get my buddy in the passenger seat and jump something

Should? It's his car and he did what he wanted to it and all that should happen.

I think he's just a good old boy. Never meaning no harm. Beats all you never saw. Been in trouble with the law since the day he was born

He shouldn't have altered the icon of a TV show, but that flag needs to just die.
The swastika was used as a peaceful symbol for thousands of years too.

the car is no longer original.

He paid a fortune for that car, then he ruined it.

He doesn't give a frick what you or anybody else thinks of his decision. His name is Bubba and he wins major golf championships. His worst sex is better than most you will ever have.

Also, no longer any resale value over the standard used car. He removed all the added value by defacing it, same as refinishing antique furniture and removing the patina.

I'm fine with private citizens doing what they need to do to just get on with life. It's his property. I'm sure it was just easier to avoid issues.
I think public servants and corporations have a greater responsibility for their actions and deserve the microscope, as for better or worse, they have greater power in shaping public perception.
Nobody is going to pressure him to keep the flag, and sometimes people just aren't interested in making political statements.
