Hearing that the Acadiana Mall situation is more panic than actual threat

Where do you really draw the line these days? As soon as you consider it just panic, it's a real threat. Nobody can really be trained to distinguish it, because the threats are being trained to bluff, too. It's a sad time.

I just drove through there. Cops are all over the Dillard's and food court entrances. Some gawkers told me there was an armed guy inside who they were in a standoff situation with. One of them said she heard that through the grapevine via her connections with the New Iberia police.

Grain of salt, but the main gist seems to be consistent with what's been said in the thread so far.

Lafayette Police Department’s page says no shots have been fired and no injuries at this time…

I went there before Christmas to look for something for my son. It is like they put Opelousas in a building.

Should be a lot more life or hard time in jail. I’d rather spend my tax money putting criminals in jail than fricking around in Ukraine and shite. People can’t ride on a fricking subway, walk thru a park, or even walk down a street in many places. Crime is out of control.

We are talking about that now. Several eye witness accounts on KLFY page are quoted as saying they heard shots. Employees my Mom works with say there were multiple shots fired.

Not sure what you want me to say. LPD says no shots, some third party peeps through the grapevine say shots. Neither one of us are there so just sharing what the police department has said. Do what you want with that information.

Yep. Much of the time it’s old women being told about something. And somehow they themselves like to say they heard or saw the incident.

One like this happened at mall by us last year and two law enforcement agencies and several people posted that what was thought to be gun shots was just a clothes rack falling over. We had one old woman wanting to swear on a bible that it was gun shots.
