It's gone up exactly once for yearly membership. $79 to $99. They also rolled out Amazon music when they upped the price.

Jan 19, 2018 On Friday, Amazon surprised customers by increasing the price of Amazon Prime for some members. Prime subscribers who pay on a monthly basis will now be charged $12.99, up from $10.99.

How do I get in on this? Is there a way to find the products that offer this? Asking for myself.

i posted a link earlier. unfortunately these days its like bitcoin mining. he got in early when it was relatively easy so he gets TONS of stuff but its much harder these days for a new/unknown reviewer to get into the program.

eta it also helps his wife is a successful doctor and so he's a stay-at-home dad who spends all day trading crypto and writing amazon fan fiction.

Buy it now feature was a godsend when they brought it. Still cheaper than local places, but you didn't have to outbid for days.

Lately Amazon has become more difficult to trust when shopping for unfamiliar brands. Something as simple as a phone cable can have listings from dozens of sellers. They often have unique branding but otherwise look nearly identical in the photos and product descriptions.

Two words...customer reviews.

It is getting harder to find things in Amazon too. I can search for an item using their search and not find it (but see alot if sponsored stuff); turn around and search in Google and find it on Amazon.

This is a major problem.

My recent problem is with reviews from multiple products in the same review list. Something fishy is going on with the reviews. I see them all the time for products that are not the one I am looking at. They seem to group all of the reviews for products with several models

This is another huge problem.

agreed. makes the reviews even less helpful.

another problem is when you search for reviews using google for a product..about 80% of the 'independent reviews' sites are simply fake URLs that connect you back to amazon's reviews.

I'm already seeing signs of them ruining Whole Foods. Whole Foods and Costco are the only two grocery stores we use and the one advantage Whole Paycheck, er, I mean, Whole Foods had over other grocery stores was their selection of unique and obscure items. Since the corporate giant Amazon has taken over, me and my wife have both noticed that theyre reducing their product diversity like theyre trying to become the organic version of Sam's. Typical corporate bean counter mentality. Eliminate all the low grossing products in favor for the high-margin products that move well. They have zero concept of what a loss leader is and its benefits. Wholefoods entire business model is built around the reputation they developed over the years with loss-leader products.

Amazon might end up running Whole Foods into the ground in short order.

even if the consumer is buying less goods from you they are still significantly invested in your brand. They have really created a lifestyle completely centered around their existence.

Great. That's just what this world needs, another Lifestyle brand ala Apple. That way, they can increasingly squeeze you like a crackhead relative because they're "family".

I know you Internet nerds make fun of Best Buy but I went in there a few weeks ago and the girl working there gave me her employee discount

The employee price for a computer mouse at Best Buy is 2 bucks

Well yea, the monthly option is pretty new. And it was always higher than the yearly cost.

I haven't noticed a difference in my whole foods other than price.

Something I noticed recently was not only the fake or retarded reviews, but some products showing an average of 5 star reviews on the search page, then when you click it and go look at the reviews yourself it's actually a ton of 3 star or worse reviews... That seems to go beyond just a bunch of bribed reviews. Like Amazon itself was stooping to display a false review average

I stick with brands I’ve tried Out. Anker makes pretty great stuff. I have one of their little Bluetooth speakers I got for $30 on a deal of the day and it’s fantastic and i feel very well built. First thing I bought from them was a backup battery
