They have known issues with cam phasers. I had to replace them twice on my 2018 king ranch. First time was around 50k miles and was covered under warranty. Second time was right around 100k and I had to pay. Other than that the engine is an absolute beast. If you get a 3.5 definitely get an extended warranty.
Change the oil every 6000 or so miles with a top synthetic oil like AMSOIL, Royal Purple, or Driven and they are completely fine for the long haul. But this is good advice for any engine.
I have a 3.5 eco and have never had an issue at 161000 miles. Quiet as brand new on startup, running, towing, etc.

What will you be using your truck for?

In an F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost right now. Have 170k miles on it and starting to have issues with emissions. Runs perfectly fine, but have to address those for inspection in June. Had to do the same thing last year. Not paying that every year, so will be buying when my bonus comes in May/June.
Can't complain about the Ford, but after spending time in the GMC, I'm a fan of the interior. I've done my time in the low trim model with no note for a while, think I'll be treating myself to a Sierra 1500 Denali. The price tag is absurd, but think I'm just biting the bullet and indulging.
New vs used in trucks is insane. Especially when you are looking at that price point. Saving 5k-10k isn't worth it to start out with 30k miles already ticked off the vehicle warranty.

Unless you absolutely need a full size you should look at Nissan Frontiers. They are reasonably priced, have pretty good options and still have a V6.

Swallow your pride and buy something you can pay cash for and afford. Carry minimum liability insurance and don’t drive like an a-hole. Keep it forever, save money. This is how people become wealthy.
you are such a stupid frick....carry minimum liability insurance....yea and I have already shown how stupid the coverage you carry is and good chance in a wreck you are sued like a mofo and pay out of pocket

pay cash
this right here tells everyone you do not understand time value of money. if they are offering 3% or less on finance....you should never ever ever pay cash.
its ok to admit you are not good with math, you make emotional decisions based off not understanding the math.
you sit there and laugh at paying full coverage insurance....but i have shown in other that your dumbass is at high risk of coming out of pocket. better hope you never get in a wreck ever because you are fricked with your coverage limits. and the fact that you commented you didnt know what each number meant or that you could get sued shows how much of a complete dumb frick you are.
please stop giving advice on life in general
