I'm thinking it was someone with a vendetta against the victim. I can't see some hood rat randomly picking a guy with his wife and kid next to him and firing that many rounds at him. I have no idea why this happened. But unless the victim mouthed off to the shooter or otherwise pissed him off, it seems odd.

Then again, maybe the thugs have upped their game.

Oh,
The AA community is definitely committing the crime, but the state do not show a major increase of crime post-Katrina. There's a brief spike in 2006 followed by a return to pre-Katrina levels. The early 90's were far far far worse than today. However, something needs to be done about this obviously connected string of violent robberies, shootings, and attempted car jacking a which do appear to be connected to the same purpetrator.

Victim blaming You're just as stupid on this board as you are on the others. Did you miss the part where this has happened numerous times in the same general area?

Nope
That's the first update from WAFB since last night

It does seem strange that more info hasn't been released

well yeah, I guess I did miss that part. I don't stay glued to this board 24/7. And while I'm aware that crime in this vicinity is common- although there are a bunch of midcity defenders here saying its a swell area- I still find it odd that some thug put six in/around this guy over a rumored carjacking.

but don't let me stop you from being offended.

Must suck going thru life finding offense and jimmy rustling at everything you see/hear.

The information that I received this evening is that the shooting was a result of a drug deal gone wrong.

The victim, along with his family, were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A female intended to purchase drugs and then fled the scene. The drug dealer chased after her, believing she ducked into a car. Unfortunately, he chose the wrong car and started shooting, striking the male subject (believing that the male subject's wife was the one that ran off).

I hope they find these pieces of shite and bury them.

Thanks for the info. Any update on who the victims were? I have worked with both of the attorneys whose offices are in that same parking lot, and I'm concerned for their well-being.

I know the names of the victims, but out of respect for the family, I prefer not to post their names here - until all media outlets share their names with the general public.

Maybe they should have an armed security guard in the parking lot like the original Doe's in Greenville, MS

That doesn't seem to mesh with some of the information that's been released so far. Didn't the wife say that the man approached the vehicle, tapped on the window, and signaled for the victim to roll it down? Only when he refused did the shooter fire his weapon. So far nobody has provided a clear description of the gunman.

This is what happened. The victim and his fiancé along with their 2 your old child were parking to go eat at Doe's. They had never been there before so the male victim went inside the restaurant to make sure they were dressed appropriately. When he came back out the female that was trying to purchase drugs ran to his car at the same time he was coming back to his car. The shooter apparently thought he was there to pick up the female and opened fire striking the male victim multiple times, at least once in the chest. Victim managed to get back in car and drive away making it about halfway to the hospital before he had to pull over and let his fiancé drive. He is expected to make a full recover. I believe they already have the female in custody.

Why would a black female who was trying to buy drugs run to the vehicle of a white family? She thought they'd help her escape? Come on!

I don't know. She may have been just running by the car. The story I heard didn't involve her tapping on the glass at or speaking to the victim at all. In fact the victims fiancé thought the female was actually a male. when she went to the police station and the cops showed her the female and asked if she recognized that persons he said "Yes, that was the girl that was close to our car.

This is 3rd hand info. Some details may be off but the gist of the story is correct.

You are correct. The story that was shared with me last night did mention their dress attire.

I understand the information I shared does not match the initial rumors or story that had been floated out there.

However, I do believe the person that provided this information to me. I may be missing bit and pieces of the actual facts, but the storyline appears to be correct.

I think people are just assuming it was a drug deal gone bad. Could have just as easily been some sort of domestic dispute.
