This is one of the most articulate eyewitnesses I've ever seen on the news (watching Fox News).
Owen Britton is his name if anyone wants to look his interview up later.

My point is that whether the person is a "democrat" or "republican", no sane individual unloads several rounds on a group of people. Trying to cast blame on one particular ideology is just pathetic and it's ironic that people on here get furious at dems for politicizing shootings when they quite literally do the same exact thing.
So politics had nothing to do with the attempted mass murder of members of one political party. Ok, thanks.

And you're still missing the point. Don't worry about it.

I'm starting to agree. Saying prayers and putting filters over Facebook profile pics is getting old.
It means absolutely fricking nothing. If people actually thought it worked, they wouldn't advertise that they prayed, we'd just see results.
And in this case, why would God bother to allow a dude to shoot up American lawmakers then swoop in after the fact to answer everyone's prayers?

Owen Britten, YMCA employee, describes what he saw
He was carrying an AK-47 type rifle. I only saw him with one weapon.
It had a curved magazine. I don't know if it was automatic or not.
It's sad that our political discourse has come to this.
He is asked if the gunman looked crazed.
I was describe him on the methodical end of the spectrum.
He was crouched, and moving in a methodical way.
He did not seem crazed. He was methodical.
What was happening inside the YMCA?
I moved everyone inside away
At one point a bullet came into the YMCA, passed through glass and landed in the pool.
Another bullet came in.
I saw the suspect being handcuffed. I did not see him being shot.
I did see a helicopter taking off. I don't know if that was a medi-vac helicopter.
I would say that the gunshots I heard lasted between one and two minutes.
He was not randomly shooting at civilians from what I saw. He seemed to be consumed by shooting at the Capitol police officers, behind a SUV.
I saw two. One was shooting over the bonnet of the SUV.

Owen wasn't going to let the reporter put words in his mouth.

No, I get your point. The shooter was almost certainly motivated by his ideology based on the facts we have now. You're misconstruing my point to be that I don't think it was politically motivated. My point is that it's pathetic and does no good to impute this lunatic's actions to an entire sect of political ideology and make it into an opportunity to score political points against the other side.

Theodicy.
Search it, read about it.
To those pooh=poohing the idea, I've heard reports and had discussions with co-workers this morning. Seems the shooter ASKED if this group was the Republicans or the Democrats, THEN went to his car to get his weapons when he ascertained.
This could be wrong, this could be false-speculation. And at 15 pages, I'm not reading the thread to learn if anyone ELSE mentioned this.
If it is correct, then a lot of folks in the public discourse need to STFU and pretty quickly about "peaceful protests" and whatever else is happening out there.

Allow me to make an analogy so you get it.
So, their sexy dresses had nothing to do with the attempted mass rape of members of one political party. Ok, thanks.
