It’s easy to get the murder rate down when you don’t report all of the murders.

I didn’t hear any shooting, but I’m guessing this was Street gang shite Fast & the Furious style.

Did a dude race for pinks and not turn over his dad’s Jetta when he lost?

Murder is definitely down this year but I think it's more of coincidence than any policies by this administration. Maybe it's because so many people got killed the last 3 years

Pacing for 78 homicides this year for EBRP. A total of 767 people have been killed in EBRP since 2017. Hitting triple digits will be a stretch this year.

Yeah just glancing at the numbers back to 1999, 75 or so is somewhere close to an average year.

Pretty sad that's a good year for a city this size

Well how many are patrolling now compared to say, 5 years ago? And who’s suppressing the information?

BRPD has lost, and in the process of losing, close to half its force due to leaving the department and retirement. My family was heavily into BRPD since the 70’s and still have connections with it. They are down closer to 400 units available for the entire city. To put that in perspective, they are allotted around 700.

They are approaching 200 officers short. I believe the allocation is mid to high 600s

700

And, from what I understand, the number is slightly higher than they admit

Baton Rouge’s problem in the last 20-25 years is not only this but the fractured (almost on purpose) decision making of the republican opposition.

Let’s run a 75 year old out of touch grey haired white guy that doesn’t run on any platform young voters care about and does nothing to help middle age voters with kids. The old republicans are going to vote for any republican already, probably need to get the rest of the block motivated to the polls.

It’s almost like in the national elections how they seemingly want to lose to not be accountable for the outcomes

What a swindle of taxpayers money. Downtown will always be a bad investment

This is true for both of the last 2 mayoral elections. Travesty

I’ve never seen a crowd of young people fired up to go vote for a 75 year old grey haired white guy from central.

I don’t fall into the young crowd anymore so if you’re asking for specific issues they care about I’m not sure

Carter and White were about as unexciting of a candidate as you can get... I can't tell if you are trolling or just being willfully ignorant. For a BR Republican to win, he/she needs to be young and energetic. They need to create a following, they need to get people excited to vote for them, they can't just hope enough voters come out.

well go get the young, exciting, vibrant candidate of which you speak and put them on the ballot.
Dont bitch about the old white guy running if he's the only one willing to do so.

sounds like they need to be around a while to build up a following and get people excited for them. In other words, they need to be...older.

What a strange thing to argue over. It's really not arguable, just reality. You must have a relationship with one of the old dudes.

no. I don't know any of them. I don't even live in EBR. But whats the point of always clamoring for a young candidate when none of them apparently wants to run? I hear this shite often regarding Republican candidates- they're old white guys. We need a young, energetic candidate that people can get excited about. Well, where is he/she? Did the old guys run unopposed?

Jordan Piazza was a candidate last election. He's nowhere near old.
