All this drama could have been avoided had he just pulled out a rock instead.

I worked in media years ago. Most of which seems like manipulation or conspiracy is merely incompetence.

This is correct, especially at television stations. TV stations located outside of major markets tend to hire 20-somethings who have little to no experience because statiions can pay these reporters less than $30,000 a year.

TV stations also don't focus on the details and a deeper perspecitve. because they have anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes per story.

Sadly, newspapers have also started going the young and cheap route (see The Advocate) and you end up with plenty of stories written by inexperienced and/or incompetent writers.

With all of the misinformation today, it sounds like the drunk spokeswoman for the EBRSO may actually be worth the $100,000 salary.

Repost from outdoor board

What an absolute total shite show information wise. Active shooter, bystander shot, multiple shooters, bystander not shot, was buying lunch box for child, injured not shot but trampled, not active shooter, two guys in argument pull guns, wait one gun one had scissors. Missing anything??

Or there was something, but with what has gone on lately, with the mass shootings at a walmart, they don't want any time of shooting... walmart story to get out any further so they just put out an official "there was no shooting" report.

Did I get this right?

So we went from active shooter

To gunfight between two people and an innocent bystander hit

To two guys pulled out their guns and someone got hurt in the escape

To one guy pulled scissors on someone with a gun and no one hurt and no shots fired

The story is so convoluted and makes Louisiana look worse than usual. The poor guy with his concealed carry defending himself lol dude was made out to be a terrorist.

Our local news media really let us down today. Best bet for news is to check back on the OT and decide for yourself

You say that but they can only work with what they have. Everything on social media pointed to a shooting. The public is a main contributor to this. The man WBRZ said he was a first responder, grew up in the country, knows what gunshots sound like. He said there were gunshots, on a live video stream. But were there any?

The public is at much as fault in this than the media.

The should have thrown in that the Amite and Comite Rivers were going to over top and flood everyone like 2016.

Update: 2 arrested, names released.

quote:

The sheriff's office says the altercation inside the Walmart began after a man approached another person at the customer service counter.

The aggressor allegedly told the man, "Hey I've got something for ya," walked away and then returned with a pair of scissors, holding them as if he were about to stab the other man.

A sheriff's office spokesperson says the other individual drew his gun in self-defense and pointed it at the suspect. The suspect then dropped the scissors as he turned to run away. Officials say when he went to pick them back up, one witness allegedly shouted "gun!" prompting "total chaos" inside the store.

Wednesday morning, authorities said two people had been arrested. Jacob Bess, 32, was issued a misdemeanor summons for disturbing the peace and Robert Tucker,44, was arrested for disturbing the peace and aggravated assault with a firearm

If this was self defense what was the reasoning for the arrest? Serious question

Exactly. Legally in possession of firearm and pulled in self defense = arrested. No way this sticks right?

Kibbles just posted this on her FB. I'm not going to post her nonsense bs, just the part someone who said she's the guys husband supposedly sent her.

quote:

My friend and her husband were at customer service returning something. The man in articles with the gun started staring at them. Then he began calling a man’s name that is NOT her husband’s name. Maybe he thought it was someone else, maybe he was on drugs, maybe he has a mental impairment, that’s all just speculation. He says he doesn’t know the guy, there is a small back n forth asking the guy if he knows him, the guy being rude and aggressive. They got weirded out and walked away. A worker by the self-check suddenly mentions something about a gun. “I don’t have a gun,” “No, the guy you were just arguing with he has a gun.” The guy had pulled a gun ON HIS BACK. No shots were fired, there was NO two-armed man Wild West style altercation, he literally just drew a gun in the middle of the store on a man who was walking away. The police arrested that guy. He then told them that her husband had threatened him (maybe talking about a prior incident that had happened with the “Chris” person he was thinking of? Again, this man was not Chris) so they LET HIM GO. Later my friend’s husband contacted them and went in for questioning after seeing all the lies on the news. Then his story matched up with what the security film showed! So they went BACK and arrested the guy. But the media was still saying he was defending himself and that there was some kind of threat. And where did the story about an active shooter turned two armed men arguing turned one man with scissors and one man with a gun turned one man just pointing a gun but no actual shooting but a random man buying a lunchbox was shot storyline come from?
