Oh, it's the system alright, just not the school system that is to blame.

I feel bad for a child of any color that has to put up with this bullshite. Some day the board will have the guts to send kids/parents who don't give a frick about education out of the school system.

I graduated from Baton Rouge High in 96. There were academic standards there. The closest we got to a fight in my 4 years there was a girl throwing a sandwich at her boyfriend.

In summer 1996 the EBRP School Board said it was unfair and racist that the city population was 21% black but the school was only 18% black. So, they removed the academic standards for anybody living within a half mile(maybe 1 mi) of the school. First day of school 1996/1997, my sister reported two fights.

Buckskin Bill fricked my HS because liberals thought removing standards was a way to make schools fair. Perfect example of tearing down the successful in the name of "equality."

A system that values diversity over merit, inclusion over safety, holds irrational beliefs that intelligence does not exist, prefers to keep the violent in class instead of segregating them for the safety of others, is to blame.

It is the system, it refuses to face reality and prefers to promote educational myths.

I had a teacher in HS that would say "let them fight until one kills the other and then put him jail for life; that's 2 troublemakers gone from society."

All valid points but this all starts at home. It doesn't matter what excuses are used, that is ground zero for this behavior.

The girl in the video punched the cop multiple times. I'm assuming she won't be arrested and she'll get a few days off from school and be back later in the week as if nothing happened.

The fact that the "parents are" useless idiots, and the home are dysfunctional isn't a reason to destroy the public school system. (genetics makes it very likely their spawn isn't going to be much different)

There were imbeciles and violent kids before the schools were forcefully integrated but their actions had consequences.

The reality is kids with IQ well below the norm aren't going to do well no matter what we do, the system is making functional kids black and white pay the price for the promotion of equal outcomes. It is the system, it sucks.

Don't disagree with any of that. If the useless idiots would become useful, it wouldn't be near as bad. Lazy and self-centered, that's all most of them are.

I don't remember what school board member said it but they said they were going to shave the top off of the mountain. this meant they were going to bring the better student's levels down to the rest, instead of bringing the rest up.

It wasn't a terrible school decades ago. It's not much different than your run of the mill BR public school now.

Aside from Lee and BR High, does EBR have a single decent school that is not overrun by this stuff? 20 years ago, several answers including Tara and the Bucs. What is now left that has a puncher's chance? Woodlawn?

Eta... I know Baker is no longer EBR, but this same shite goes on in Scotlandville and Baker as well.
