We belonged to SF Country Club in the early to mid 70's. My dad played golf and I went to the pool almost every day. Used to be a nice place.

That was my football list. I didn't play baseball with those guys. I did play a couple years for Rabenhorst Funeral Home then those guys played for Marquis Bobcat. Dick Howell Realty was from around Broadmoor.

I went to school across Airline. I threw a lot of eggs.

And I got my truck stuck on Brentwood when it was gravel and I was 13. (actually it was my father's truck that I took when he was gone) We walked to the Stop and Go (Stop and Rob) under the Drusilla overpass because they wouldn't let me use the phone at the Patio Lounge and the Pack A Sack didn't have a pay phone and called Goodwood Mobil (corner of Goodwood and Airline) and pooled our money for them to pull me out. Charged me $17.50.

Try to get that done for that now. And the payphone was a dime.

He is still there running the same crappy veer offense.

That offense was unstoppable in the late 90's...... until we played John Curtis... bunch of cheaters!

Times have certainly changed. People freak out and run away if you need help now. Back then you probably could have found someone near the payphone willing to drive over and pull you out.

All of Newman's were badasses. Crazy times with Jock, Doug Constant, and Troy Marks.

Great thread, River Oaks in the house. What was the piano bar on Sherwood that was torn down about 15-20 years ago? This is near Lake Sherwood intersection, same side as Hunan. Place was decent for a while, then turned into a dump. I think the building was red & white. I cannot remember what business is there now.

I remember him taking the cross country team to LSU games to sell cokes and raise money. Three LSU wrestlers robbed the stand and he went after them.

I never heard what happened but he ended up with a broken nose. The wrestlers were arrested and booted off the team.

Before I got expelled from Parkview Boots was my track coach. In my life I had Boots Garland, Rusty Price and Prescott As my coaches. That's why I'm the hardass I am today.
