It is entirely different for a number of reasons. Main one, IMO, being that actors aren't always in the exact same type of movie and playing a similar role. I grew up on wrestling. I don't hate it. But comparing it to film in any capacity is absurd.

Supposedly HBK is a born again Christian now. He was recently in a Christian movie and speaks publicly about his past and the mistakes he made. Seems genuine but who knows now a day.

Yeah I haven't seen the movie, but I saw an interview he did about it. He seemed pretty genuine about it. Talked about his prolonged drug use and how his young child saw it in his eyes. It still took him a few years after that to totally get clean, but that was the turning point. His wife is a Christian and he somehow ended up at a church after driving around one day.

the documentary Bret Hart: Wrestling with Shadows

It's a good watch, but completely one sided for Bret's spin on the incident.

It was a bad time with WCW raiding talent. Bret should have agreed to do the job that night and it wouldn't have gone down like that. That forced Vince, Earl Hebner, HBK, and HHH to do what they did, cowardly or not.

I've seen an interview with Bret and HBK that was done about 3 years ago. Things are much more amicable now and I wonder if they realize that everyone was wrong in that situation.

I love them both but Bret Hart was the man back in the day. I seriously wonder how many times as a kid I put the sharpshooter on my bros. The screw job took him down a few notches though as he used to be my all time favorite but he came out to be a little baby to me about that whole thing. The Monday Night Wars between WCW and WWE back then were crazy how they switched brands like that. I think without the competition now WWE has a worse product than they used to.

Bret Hart. His matches were a work of art. He could carry just about anyone and put on a good show.

However, after watching a several interviews on YouTube discussing the "screw job", he really was the one that fricked himself over. He was set to go to WCW and WWE writers presented numerous stories where he was to drop the belt beforehand and he rejected them all, leaving them no choice but to do what they had to do. Still a huge fan of Bret but he took the while "Best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be " shtick a little too seriously.

Montreal was a work

1. I have a really hard time believing that someone with the experience of a Bret Hart would not see that coming a mile away

2. and then on top of it let Shawn put him in his own submission finish where they could easily ring the bell on him.

3. Camera one zoomed right in on Bret after the finish rather than the new champ. Odd.

4. Bret had reasonable creative control in his contract for the last 30 days. Why did he never sue?

5. Why didn't Vince ever sue Bret for the punch?

6. I saw Sean Waltman make the point that in the Bret documentary Vince sold the punch like hell and that Vince is the kind of guy that would never ever let you see any kind of injury or weakness and that he thought Vince was mugging for the camera.

Once again, I encourage you to watch the Bret Hart: Wrestling With Shadows documentary. Anyone who watches it can see without question that it was not a work.

I mean he has Vince McMahon, on tape, agreeing behind closed doors that he could go out however he wanted. Not sure how much clearer it could possibly be.
