Can that part of the leg be saved?
My family knows this family personally. She was bitten as well as her husband. Her husband was bitten on the foot as he kicked the shark while it was biting his wife. She lost lots of blood and was flown to a bigger hospital in the area. She had many blood transfusions, but she has feeling in her toes and was told she has good blood flow in that leg. Time will tell, but it is a scary situation.
There is a Go Fund Me if anyone wishes to contribute.

I was frustrated watching two men drag her from the water while there were at least a dozen people in the near area not helping.
Very glad she might keep that lower leg. Honestly, surprised given the chunk of calf that was missing.

Too small to be a Tiger, unless a juvenile.

My irrational fear of sharks becomes more rational by the day.
This is terrifying to me.

I keep my rules simple. They don’t come on the land to bother me and I don’t go in the water and bother them.

I'd bet a sizable amount of money that more people die worldwide every year from honeybees than sharks.
We need the bees, do we really need sharks?

Per the ISAF:
quote:
Unprovoked bites are defined as incidents in which a bite on a live human occurs in the shark’s natural habitat with no human provocation of the shark.
These events include; mistaken identity hit and run during low visibility conditions, investigation, and on infrequent occasions predation.
quote:
Provoked bites occur when a human initiates interaction with a shark in some way. These include instances when people are bitten after harassing or trying to touch sharks, bites occurring while unhooking or removing a shark from a fishing net, and so forth. In these encounters, the shark is responding with defensive behavior. Bites on spearfishers, bites on people attempting to feed sharks, bites occurring while unhooking or removing a shark from a fishing net are also classified as provoked bites. These events all involve food.

I think we need to take back the coast line against these mfers. Going waist high should not result in loosing a leg.
This is what happens when creatures who would like to eat you are protected.

I liked his suit with the anchors on it better than the fruitstripe suit.
