I heard Landry was after one of the Exec VP’s, not Tate.

Tate, from all of the hand wringing that went on when he was hired, has been amazing. He actually gives a shite about the university. I and a lot of other people were completely wrong about him. Landry just wants his 2 minute fox news soundbite
Quite the opposite.

Didn't we all have CRT things in our past?
I hated to put that last one out on the curb.

My son is one of them- Alabama has offered him a full 5-yr ride as a National merit finalist, total scholarship near 200k
LSU: 16k over 4 years (plus TOPs which doesn’t come from LSU) = barely covers tuition
You're comparing one situation that covers out-of-state tuition and another that does not. Do you think LSU should kick your kid $200k?
The "value" you're getting is because Bama has shot their out-of-state tuition through the roof to take advantage of all of the out-staters who want to dick-ride the football program.

I can see Tate having an issue with his indirect boss trying to micromanage his staff.

Our modest academic ranking will take a BIG hit
no one wants to for a MAGA Hack

It would be an incredibly dumb move if he did try to get rid of Tate. He's been the best president since Emmert.
Tate really turned out to be great. Very glad he is here.
Landry is a potato.

it is all monopoly money anyway, LSU should be doing everything it can to keep smart kids in the state.
Let the slap dicks like me from Houston pay the out of state fees to cover it.

Yeah, whole different ballgame.
We went when a scholarship was a thing. No such thing as TOPS.
You can't get in without it now. And all of the other spots are taken by out of state applicants, because they pay more.
LA kids now that have no interests in grad or professional schools should just learn a trade instead of assuming debt if not TOPS qualified.

All the smart kids hit the patch or the plant and are making 100k a year at 19
The dumb kids go to lsu to learn how to sell insurance

Hope it's not Tate. He's been very solid.
I've been to several chapter retreats through the AA and the results under his leadership have been impressive. We're recruiting very well as well. He knows you need a good Greek system to compete with other SEC schools hence the reason you're continuing to see housing improvements across fraternities/sororities (e.g. Kappa, DZ, DG, Phi Mu, Delta Tau, etc.).
Here's some of the slides from one of the enrollment presentations. I can't remember a lot of the specifics but I remember them saying that many of our peers are trying to emulate our blue print.
And that's not including his pentagon plan, increased research funding/corporate donations, improvements across campus, etc.

TOPS needs to change.
Go back to being almost a pure meritocracy and, more importantly, needs to have a requirement to live in the state of Louisiana for 3 years post graduation or you owe that money back to the state. Somehow curb the brain drain. People are more likely to remain here long term if they aren't poached to Texas immediately after graduating. They get jobs, find love, etc. and have roots.

I believe it's the breakdown of the freshmen class by state, and the percent change from 2017 to 2023.

I am including out of state for Alabama but they also pay a 5th year plus room and board plus books and study abroad. The point I am making is LSU is doing nothing to keep high achieving students in state. All that LSU is offering is covering his tuition for 4 years. It is driving our top achieving students out of state. He made a 36 on the ACT. I assumed he would get at least room and board covered at LSU But not the case.

Our football program is in great shape going into next season and Brian Kelly was seen as a huge hire (won everywhere he's been), our baseball program is fricking elite, our womens basketball is elite, our gymnastics is elite, and he inherited an embarrassing mess with Will Wade and made the best hire he could into this situation, which will be easy to fix after this season with a somewhat talented roster and a new arena being built. Not to mention our NIL is very strong, especially considering our lack of billionaire donors.
Our athletic department is in great fricking hands. Our fans suck and lack any sort of common sense or ability to reason.

He hasn’t decided where but he also wants to do marching band and wants a big SEC school to do it at. So he’s looking at mostly SEC schools. Just about every one of them would give him a full ride… except LSU. He had no interest in Ivy League schools. Plus most they match scholarship-wise is 50%, based on income

Leave Tate and Woodward alone. They’re the best duo we’ve ever had at Pres/AD.
