These forecasts are certainly not trending the way I would like.

I take it schools will start shutting down by lunchtime tomorrow.

Yeah, I think an early release is likely tomorrow. If it does look like there might be some severe storms in the morning, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some systems not go at all. After COVID, I think school systems find it easier to make that decision than they used to.

Other than having to be out on the roads, I generally am of the thought that it's better to have the kids be in a sturdy school building rather than their homes, many of which could be mobile homes.
But, I do know the school system doesn't want that liability. And I do recall the Enterprise HS tornado from several years ago.
I think a good compromise would be to keep the schools open to be shelters, if needed or wanted by the local communities.

The setup is a big mess and most models seem to be struggling with how morning storms will impact later development

The good side is in my experience when this happens the system usually under performs compared to the hype. Not always, but usually

As of tonight, NE LA, E. Ark into W. Tenn and N. Miss look like the prime area, with the greatest chance of big hitters in Central Eastern Ark into W. Tenn and far N. Miss. The wildcard is the open warm sector in Central Miss & AL. Then things probably line out with a nocturnal threat of some spin ups.

What should my pucker factor be here in the delta Hwy 82 corridor. Basically directly east of Greenville about 35 miles

I didn’t post this this morning, but here is the threat graphic from the NWS in Birmingham for the counties they cover. Note the “strong long track tornadoes” wording for the moderate risk.

Yeah, the Storm Prediction Center has updated their wording to expect "several strong tornadoes".

My sister is driving from Atlanta to Baton Rouge tommorow. I’m telling her to wait until Thursday

Yeah, I wouldn’t test this system. Most of Alabama is in at least an enhanced risk, and all of Alabama has some risk of severe weather tomorrow. Same for Mississippi.

My work just sent an email out about the possibility of severe storms tomorrow. I’m pretty sure they have never done that before.

Another issue for Alabama is that the core of this threat may be after dark.

That doesn't help. In addition to the possibility of threats all throughout the afternoon, too.
People are going to be weary by nightfall
