I’ve lived here my whole life and I can recall a few tornadoes but never a siren. Have any of you baws ever heard a siren here? If not the broominator should get them installed.

Baton Rouge doesn’t have enough tornadoes to justify the studies and maintenance for such a system.

Whew... ask Birmingham's James Spann about outdoor sirens. He does not like them, especially in an era of county-based weather radio and polygon*-based cellphone alerts.

*you must respect it.

When I lived in Montgomery Alabama they have a city wide siren system. I really never realized how many tornados the state of Alabama actually has per year. I'll take a hurricane over a tornado because with hurricanes you know they are coming. It was sad when the news released a conversation between a mother and her daughter who was a student and lived in an apartment complex near the university of bama. The phone went dead on the daughter's end and the mother then realized that her daughter was gone. I hate when the news posts these type of conversations like the mother in bama and the manager at Calenders restaurant pleading for her life before the robber shot her in Baton Rouge.

Yes.

And both Baton Rouge and Lafayette can use a new Doppler radar site somewhere in between the two cities.

I was in downtown Cincinnati on Friday morning when a funnel cloud rolled through.

Don’t think they have sirens either - and I didn’t get a warning until after I had already seen it. I’m not sure the sirens are very useful unless the area experiences a lot of longer track tornadoes.

Baton Rouge drivers seem to have given zero fricks in those videos.
